We are looking for a DevOps engineer who can help in IST Timezone.  This person will own the deployment of Groupon’s Kafka & MBus platform, and troubleshoot production issues.

Groupon’s Platform team, consisting of 7 departments, creates innovative solutions, keeps the Lights On, and helps migrate services between cloud providers.  This particular department has 3 team members. One of them is leaving and we are back filling this position.

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer who can look after the below responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain DevOps pipelines for the integration of software components in diverse environments

• Manage messaging systems in Groupon.

• Design and implement Infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and self-heal mechanisms

• Work in Agile, test-driven development model

• Work with development teams to implement data streaming pipelines.

• Perform code reviews and deployments

• Be familiar with using GitHub.

• Exceptional communication skills to address multiple internal and external stakeholders

• Troubleshoot, and profile existing/new implementations for improvements

• Create technical documentation/ user guides for implemented solutions

• Excellent communication skills and teamwork are a must
   

Preferred Experience

• 3+ years experience in Designing and Configuring Infrastructure: Ability to design, implement, configure and maintain infrastructure, including brokers, topics, partitions, clusters, retention policies, and replication factors.

• Data Streaming Solutions: Experience in building and maintaining real-time data streaming solutions using Kafka, including data ingestion, transformation, and processing.

• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Expertise in monitoring clusters, identifying performance bottlenecks, troubleshooting issues, and implementing proactive measures to ensure high availability.

• Expertise with Coding/Scripting in one or more Python, Shell, Powershell

• Should be Familiar with the Software Build process (Compilation of code with GNU Make, CMake, Visual Studio, etc.)

• Proficient with container frameworks: Docker, Docker-compose

• Strong expertise in at least one of Linux packaging ecosystems - specifically, Debian, RPM, APT, YUM – in one or more Linux distributions – Ubuntu, CentOS, SUSE Linux

• Ability to contribute to code reviews

• Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative environment

• Security Implementation: Knowledge of security features, such as authentication, authorization, and encryption, to ensure secure data flow and access control.

• Exposure to Kubernetes, Ansible, and Terraform is a definite plus.

• Exposure to cloud technologies like AWS, GCP

• Active participation in open-source projects is a definite plus

• Expertise in setting up the monitoring at the enterprise level using Prometheus and Grafana is a definite plus.
