Groupon, Inc. is looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in Chicago, IL.

How you'll spend your day:

• You will serve as a bridge between non-technical stakeholders and engineering, collaborating with product managers and architects to shape the product roadmap applying machine learning while prioritizing business requirements; 

• Analyze and visualize big data to propose and implement cutting-edge machine learning solutions to automate/expedite processes; 

• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, sharing knowledge with the team; 

• Mentor, support and lead junior engineers on company strategy and projects, software engineering best practices, and career growth; 

• Troubleshoot and resolve time critical integration issues using technologies like message bus, RDBMS, Kubernetes and logging infrastructure to ensure high system availability and performance; 

• Utilize agile software development practices to write efficient and scalable Java code for third-party integration solutions. 

• 100% telecommuting allowed; can live anywhere in the U.S.   Co headquarters in Chicago, IL.

We’re excited about you if you have the following requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or related field or foreign equivalent degree plus 2 years related experience.

• Any level of experience with analyzing research papers and big data using Spark dataframes, visualization tools, and domain knowledge to propose, design and implement new machine learning solutions to automate manual processes 

• Any level of experience with troubleshooting and resolving time critical production issues using tech stack - Kibana logs, metric monitoring, and SQL

• Any level of experience with selecting the right machine learning model based on the application, optimize and hypertune the model to ensure maximum accuracy and to maintain the quality of predictions

• Any level of experience with developing robust and scalable data pipelines by combining different data sources and using data wrangling, and feature engineering to generate training data for machine learning solutions
