Security Engineer Intern
Hybrid (Palo Alto, CA or Toronto, Canada)
Groq's Summer Internship Program runs from May - September and is full-time during the duration of the internship.
Mission: As a Security Engineer intern, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the security posture of our organization. You will work closely with our DevOps, IT, and security teams to automate security and IT operations, ensuring the highest level of security, compliance, and efficiency. If you're passionate about Linux system administration, Google Cloud Platform, and DevSecOps, and you're eager to learn and grow with our team, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Linux systems and services, ensuring their security, availability, and performance.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts in Bash and Python to streamline security and IT operations.
- Collaborate with other teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle, ensuring secure practices and compliance with security standards.
- Implement and manage security controls, such as IAM, firewalls, and access controls, in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Develop and maintain familiarity with GCP services, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage.
- Participate in vulnerability management, incident response, and security monitoring activities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of our security documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams, ensuring exceptional customer service.
Ideal candidates have/are:
- Familiarity in Linux system administration including package management, networking, and file systems.
- Basic competency in Bash and Python programming languages.
- Interest in DevOps, DevSecOps, and the automation of security and IT operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada

Compensation: The US pay range for our technical internships is $30-$50 / per hour. The US pay range for our non-technical internships is $30-$40 / per hour. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience, country of internship and aligned with Groq’s internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. #LI-DNI
