Principal Data Engineer - Groq Cloud

Mission: As a Principal Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing a robust data platform that integrates data from multiple sources, provides real-time analytics, and enables data-driven decision-making.  Collaborating closely with stakeholders from various business functions, you will identify and prioritize data needs, uncover new data sources, and develop a deep understanding of the organization's data landscape. 

Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:

• Design and implement data pipelines using Airflow, DBT, Cloud Functions and other data engineering tools.
• Develop and maintain large-scale data warehouses using Postgres, Google BigQuery, and other warehousing solutions.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, including internal systems, external data providers, and cloud-based services
• Work with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize data needs, and develop solutions to meet those needs
• Develop and maintain data models, data governance policies, and data quality standards to ensure data consistency and accuracy
• Design and implement data visualization and reporting tools using modern BI tools.
  
  

Ideal candidates have/are:

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-based data platforms
• A deep understanding of the modern data stack, with expertise in data ingestion, cleaning, transformation, modeling, and modern data warehouses.
• Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data security, and data compliance principles and practices.
• The ability to communicate complex technical concepts in simple terms, with a talent for building strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A creative and analytical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions to complex data challenges.
• Detail oriented and focused on providing the most accurate and reliable information possible.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git)

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Large Language Models
• Knowledge of data science tools and techniques, including data visualization and statistical modeling
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and logging)

Compensation: At Groq, a competitive base salary is part of our comprehensive compensation package, which includes equity and benefits. For this role, the base salary range is $248,710 - $407,100, determined by your skills, qualifications, experience and internal benchmarks.
