At Grata, we are seeking a technically savvy, customer-focused Director of Solutions Engineering to lead our growing Solutions Engineering and Product Support teams. This role combines both strategic leadership and hands-on technical engagement, driving impactful customer onboarding, proactive product support, and seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams

In this role, you will serve as a “trusted technical advisor,” ensuring your team successfully onboards customers to our suite of technical products, including API integrations, SFTP configurations, Snowflake, and CRM solutions and supports customers throughout their entire journey with Grata. You’ll be responsible for long-term team planning, defining and maintaining high-performance standards, and creating a culture of growth and excellence within your team. Additionally, you will report on the team’s performance to executive leadership, offering strategies for growth that align with Grata’s strategic vision.

As Director, you will build strong relationships across the organization, partnering with Customer Success, Sales, Product Management, and Engineering to remove blockers, enable team success, and ensure customers achieve their business objectives with our technical products. You’ll play a pivotal role in scaling internal processes, supporting team development, and maintaining a high bar for technical proficiency and customer satisfaction.

Grata is a hybrid company, which means our employees work from our NYC office (near Bryant Park) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

At Grata, we will expect you to:

  • Own Grata’s entire Solutions Engineering & Support teams, responsible for long-term team planning, managing all day-to-day operations and representing the team within the company
  • Become a “trusted technical advisor” so that all Solution Engineers and Product Support can reach out to you for expertise and guidance
  • Report on performance and growth of the Solutions Engineering & Support teams to executive leadership
  • Partner with senior leadership to understand the company’s strategic plan and identify opportunities for Solutions Engineers to support that vision
  • Build strong relationships across the organization from Customer Success, Sales, Product Management and Engineering as you will be responsible for customer onboarding to technical products (API, SFTP, Snowflake, CRM integration) and proactive product support
  • Develop and implement scalable workflows and playbooks to support the team’s growth and improve operational efficiency as customer volume increases.
  • Lead the resolution of critical customer escalations, ensuring timely and effective outcomes while maintaining customer trust.
  • Identify and facilitate training programs to enhance technical skills and leadership capabilities within the team.
  • Remove blockers for your team while providing your team support and guidance
  • Define and maintain a high bar for team member expectations and enable your team to achieve it
  • Define and track KPIs for the Solutions Engineering and Support teams, such as customer satisfaction, issue resolution time, and onboarding efficiency
  • Challenge the team and yourself to continually learn and grow as trusted advisors to clients
  • Drive a high-performing team and create pathways for growth for each team member
  • Manage performance and key talent closely ensuring that we are taking the necessary actions to retain top talent
  • Act as a key stakeholder in product roadmap discussions, providing insights from customer feedback and technical challenges to shape future development

What we are looking for:

  • Proven track record solving complex technical problems and providing an excellent experience for customers in the process
  • Experienced in a solutions engineering or implementation role, preferably within an Enterprise SaaS environment
  • 3+ years of experience in managing teams
  • Ability and eagerness to quickly self-learn new technologies based on customer or business need
  • Ability to manage a highly skilled technical team and effectively evaluate and develop the performance of the individuals on your team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to lead meetings with senior-level executives internally or with our clients and partners
  • Ability to hold highly skilled conversation with technical stakeholders about data flows and system architecture, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability and eagerness to quickly self-learn new technologies based on customer or business need

Grata is committed to providing competitive cash compensation and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in New York City, the estimated base salary for this role is $140,000 - $170,000 per year.
