Get to Know the Team

Grab Identity team builds the systems that define who our users are and enable them to securely access the Grab platform—helping make Grab the most trusted and loved platform in Southeast Asia. As an engineer at Grab, you are working at the core of the company, shaping the foundation that everything else depends on.

Get to Know the Role

You will lead the design, development, and maintenance of our mission-critical backend systems, driving technological advancements and setting the standard for engineering excellence. You will be reporting to Senior Engineering Manager.

This role is based on-site in our Petaling Jaya office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Develop and maintain software applications using backend programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go, while adhering to coding best practices and standards
• Design and implement RESTful APIs that facilitate seamless communication between different system components and services
• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, propose solutions, and deliver high-quality code
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while participating in code reviews to learn from peers and provide constructive feedback
• Troubleshoot, debug, and test software applications to identify and resolve issues, ensuring performance and reliability
• Assist in researching and evaluating new technologies, tools, and frameworks that could enhance our development processes and product offerings
• Participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and knowledge-sharing sessions to stay informed about project progress and industry best practices

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Only for candidates who are available to start in August 2026.
• Currently pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Go, Java, or Python) and a understanding of RESTful APIs.
• Interest in distributed systems, large-scale data processing, IoT/telemetry systems, or autonomous vehicle technologies.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Cloud services (AWS/Azure), React for dashboards, or functional safety standards.
