We are looking for a Director to steer our Product Engineering team that build and deliver software-based AI, Data and Connectivity products for public good. Our products catalyse industry awareness of emerging technologies and catalyse industry’s ability to adopt emerging technologies. The successful candidate is a motivated and experienced leader, with a track record in tackling technology build problems related to AI, big data collection, cleaning and architectures. This role offers unique opportunities for collaboration with both the research community and the industry.

[What you will be working on]

• Lead a team to build and deliver AI, Data and Connectivity products for public good. The candidate will lead the team to focus on scalable data collection, data preparations, and developing sustainable AI products that follow responsible AI principles.

• Collaborate closely with the business, product, incubation and lab team to curate and define requirements for high-priority, high-impact projects that uplift Singapore’s capabilities in emerging technologies.

• Lead the team to establish and demonstrate global leadership in practical responsible AI for product engineering. This may include continuously improving agile methodologies, MLOps, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) to integrate AI Red Teaming, MLSecOps and more emerging practices.

• Act as a thought leader in IMDA and industry for AI for public good, Data Utilities and practical responsible product engineering practices. Participate in national-level discussions, secure buy-ins from senior WOG stakeholders and perform industry engagements on these topics. Promote understanding and adoption of modern MLSecOps and responsible AI product engineering practices across Singapore.

• Foster a high-performing team culture, promoting continuous learning and improvement. Encourage the adoption of modern software development practices to improve team efficiency.

• Develop comprehensive capability and talent development plans for the team, including identifying core competencies and devising capabilities development for essential hard and soft skills. Include a strong focus on upskilling in areas of AI, ML, and data science.

• Coach and mentor younger staff members across the organisation.

[What we are looking for]

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in leading AI and big data projects end to end, from requirements gathering, design to implementation.
• At least 10 years of experience in leading engineering teams. The candidate should be familiar with software development lifecycle, Agile practices, DevSecOps, and productivity tracking tools and have experience improving on those practices.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong presentation and engagement skills
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills to collaborate with both local and overseas partners and stakeholders.
• Highly self-driven, a team player and fast learner.

Position will be commensurate with experience.
