Staff SQE Engineer – Optical

Location : Flexible (Shenzhen). This role allows the flexibility to work from home, within proximity to an office location.

The Role

On this team you are going to be responsible for…

The SQE is responsible for overseeing and managing the quality of optical and PCB suppliers to ensure they meet GoPro's business standards. This includes collaborating with suppliers and contract manufacturers to resolve quality issues related to both optical and PCB components. The SQE will also be responsible for aligning inspection criteria between GoPro, suppliers, and contract manufacturers for both optical and PCB components. Additionally, they will drive continuous quality improvement efforts with PCB suppliers.

What You Will Do

• Responsible for optical part quality, solving PCB quality issues.  
• Review and buyoff supplier PPAP, PMP. Align inspection plans for both supplier and CM IQC.
• New supplier qualification(Quality Management System audit) and AVL supplier regular audit.
• Drive supplier quality continuous improvement program, elevate supplier quality performance
• Support sourcing and engineering team; validating new technical camera needs. 

Skills We’re Excited About

• Must have a deep understanding of optical lens quality control and manufacturing processes.
• At least 4 years of experience in optical parts SQE within a contract manufacturer or original design manufacturer (CM/ODM), along with 2+ years of quality experience in a lens manufacturing environment. Additional PCB quality experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with essential quality and engineering tools such as FA, 5why, DOE, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including failure analysis, root cause determination, and independent problem resolution.
• Solid communication and professional working proficiency in English both written and verbal
• Willingness to travel within China and internationally as needed.
