At GoFundMe, our Communications Platform engineering team is expanding to revolutionize how we engage users and deliver critical updates. We seek a highly motivated senior engineer to help us build and scale mission-critical communication solutions, including emails, push notifications, and SMS. Additionally, you’ll enhance user engagement through user-to-user chats and group chats. This is an exciting opportunity to own and drive scalable resilient solutions that applications and experience teams rely on as backbone.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates considered for this role will be located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Job…

• You'll refine and execute communication platform initiatives consisting of innovative use cases to support various application needs.
• You'll design and implement the end-to-end solutions, from ideation to launch and iterate.
• You’ll collaborate with engineers, product management, and external partners to design and implement the scalable solutions to our customers, and internal business units..
• You’ll mentor junior developers through chat and pair programming, and advocate for improvements to the codebase, providing leadership to others within your team.

You… 

• You are a seasoned engineer with experience in backend systems with a track record of building and shipping impactful features. 5+ years of relevant experience in backend development of business logic, APIs that service high traffic in a resilient and performant way.
• You have experience designing services and systems using well-accepted design patterns to enable future scaling. You anticipate future use cases and make design decisions that minimize the cost of future change.
• You are skilled at leading projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery by balancing technical trade-offs and business needs, communicating progress and challenges to stakeholders, and ensuring teams stay aligned with project goals.
• You have strong experience in analyzing, diagnosing, and preventing performance problems, with expertise in performance monitoring and log analytics tools like New Relic and Sumo Logic.
• Experience with Rest APIs, Microservices, Spring Boot, Java or Kotlin.

Preferred… 

• Experience with Email systems, Chat, Group messaging, Push notifications, AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes.

The total annual salary for this full-time position is $X - $X + equity + benefits.  As this is a remote position, the salary range was determined by role, level, and possible location across the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Job…

• EXAMPLE Partner closely with product management and UX designers to shape requirements and deliver features
• EXAMPLE Develop and maintain a fast, bug-free, and reusable library of web components written in React
• EXAMPLE Participate in code reviews regularly to provide guidance to junior developers, protect our codebase quality, and ensure that features progress at an acceptable pace

You…

• EXAMPLE 5+ years of front end engineering experience, with at least two years spent as a lead or senior front end engineer
• EXAMPLE Significant experience with Javascript frameworks and state management using ReactJS and Redux
• EXAMPLE fundamentals in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• EXAMPLE You have the skills to create a UI without the help of a framework like Bootstrap or Foundation
• EXAMPLE Experience with responsive design and mobile-first principles
• EXAMPLE Experience designing scalable, performant front-end applications
• EXAMPLE Experience with Javascript build tools like Yarn, Lerna, and Webpack
• EXAMPLE Passionate about web accessibility
• EXAMPLE Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR relevant equivalent technical experience.
• EXAMPLE Ping pong skills, a love for boba tea, and a sense of humor
