About the Role

Our goal at GlossGenius is to help small businesses achieve their highest potential - and in order to do that, we need to continue to grow our incredibly talented team. We are looking to hire an individual who is motivated by a challenge, loves being on the cutting edge of technology, and is excited about getting real-world experience building products that will be used by our customers. You will work closely with our brilliant and experienced engineering team to contribute to the development and enhancement of our products. You will report to an engineering manager who oversees Core Product initiatives and will be exposed to fullstack projects that will change the lives of 70k+ (and growing) users.  You will be based in NYC. 

More on What You’ll Do

• Software Development: Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and test new features and functionalities for our web and mobile applications. Your contributions will directly impact the experiences of our users, including beauty professionals and clients.
• Coding and Troubleshooting: Write clean and efficient code while adhering to industry best practices and GlossGenius coding standards. Participate in debugging and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Product Improvement: Provide valuable insights and suggestions for improving the user interface, user experience, and overall performance of our software applications.
• Quality Assurance: Assist in testing software and produce high-quality deliverables, write automated unit tests, conduct unit testing, integration testing, and participate in code reviews.
• Data Analysis: Collaborate with data analysts to collect and analyze data related to user interactions with our platform. Use data-driven insights to inform engineering decisions.
• Learning and Growth: Proactively seek opportunities to learn and expand your skills in various technologies and development methodologies. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.

What We’re Looking For

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science or related technical field, with a graduation date between May - June 2024. 
• Proficient in programming skills in one or more of the following languages: Javascript, React, Redux, React Native, Node.js, Ruby, Kotlin, Ruby (Rails, Sidekiq), Kotlin (micronaut, jooq), GRPC, Protobuf, and Postgres.
• Familiarity with web development frameworks and libraries such as Micronaut, Grpc, JobRunr, Logstash, Sentry, DataDog, Postgres, SQL/Jooq, Liquibase, KoTest, KFactories, Temporal, React, Angular, and Node.js is a plus.
• Solid understanding of software development principles and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

The starting base salary for this role in New York, California, and Washington is between $127,500 and 150,000 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in GlossGenius’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within our total rewards offering.
