Software Developer III (Software Engineer)

Summary:

The Software Engineer III role works throughout the software development life cycle and performs in a utility capacity to create, design, code, debug, maintain, test, implement and validate applications with a broad understanding of various languages and architectures.  Analyzes existing applications or formulate logic for new applications, procedures, flowcharting, coding, and debugging programs.  Maintains and utilizes application and programming documents in the development of code.  Recommends changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.  Creates appropriate deliverables and develops application implementation plans in a flexible development environment throughout the life cycle.

This position will report to the Software Engineering Manager within the Internal Applications department.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership:

• - Propose technical guidance to a team of software engineers.

• - Aspire for best practices in software development, ensuring code quality, scalability, and maintainability.

• Architectural Design:

• - Contribute to the architectural design and evolution of our software products.

• - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.

• Coding and Development:

• - Coding and development of software modules.

• - Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

• - Should have a demonstrated ability delivering within a DevOps delivery model from scoping requirements, requirement analysis, design, development, test, CI/CD, security implementation, and operational excellence with the ability to work cross-functionally with Product Managers, business stakeholders and other tech teams through the actual launch of the project. 

• Attention to User Experience (UX): Understanding the end-user's needs and preferences is essential for developing user-friendly software and should consider usability and accessibility principles to create intuitive and enjoyable user experiences.

• Innovation and Research:

• - Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.

• - Lead research and development initiatives to introduce solutions.

• Problem Solving:

• - Tackle challenging technical problems and provide creative solutions.

• - Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective software solutions.

• Mentorship and Collaboration:

• - Mentor and guide more junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

• - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product management, Architects, Application Security, and  Dev/Ops to ensure successful product delivery.

• - This role should also have experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.

• Documentation:

• - Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

• - Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems, or a related field

  • Demonstrable skills and an impressive portfolio of projects can substitute for a degree. 

• Minimum of 4 years - Professional Experience In Coding, Designing, Developing, and Analyzing Data.  

• Typically has advanced knowledge and use of one or more front / back end languages/technologies and a moderate understanding of the other corresponding end language/technology from the following but not limited to; two or more modern programming languages used in the enterprise, experience working with various APIs, external Services, experience with both relational and NoSQL Databases. 

• Skills / Knowledge - A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of their area of specialization. This job is a fully qualified, career-oriented position.

• Job Complexity - Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in their own area of expertise.

• Supervision - Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.

• Office Skills - Understanding how to collaborate efficiently in a remote work setting, including scheduling virtual meetings, using collaboration tools, and fostering team engagement from a distance.

• Project Management - Plan, organize, motivate, and manage multiple projects, resources and timelines simultaneously.

Preferred Experience/Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

• Experience with Azure or GCP

• Experience with .NET core

• Experience with Vue.js

• Familiar with DevOps principles and passionate about improving efficiencies.

• Experience in the payment industry

• Passionate about unit testing and TDD

• Working with remote teams (onshore, nearshore, offshore)

• Knowledge of .NET, HTML, RabbitMQ, Mocking Frameworks, IOC Frameworks, Cloud, Containerization, Data Privacy
