Senior Site Reliability Engineer

The goal of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at Global Payments is to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our products. As an SRE, you will have the opportunity to tackle complex problems of scale which are unique to technology companies. We are looking for candidates who will be part of a team responsible for 24/7 support of high-volume, mission critical, payment processing cloud services.

• Proactively monitor service availability and performance against objectives and implement changes to achieve them
• Test, build, design, deploy, and maintain the CI/CD delivery process
• Improve existing processes by way of automation
• Drive continuous improvement efforts
• Build new environments using the latest technologies and best practices
• Support existing environments and provide thorough and timely responses to all incidents
• Document processes and best practices
• Work with architecture to drive and document all environments and changes
• Produce network, infrastructure, security, and flow diagrams
• Introduce and/or build new tools to improve efficiency and reduce potential incidents

• Remediate vulnerabilities within required timeframes

• Actively troubleshoot during build and test to ensure issues are caught as early in the process as possible
• Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation
• Mentor and train other SREs and other team members as needed
• Present designs and approach to leadership as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years in support of a production system as an SRE
• 2+ years in cloud platforms such as Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services
• Strong scripting abilities with one or more languages such as PowerShell
• Excellent communication skills, both in the written and the verbal form
• Experience using and introducing Continuous Integration/Deployment tools
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Terraform and Ansible
• Strong grasp of networking principles and their implementation
• Strong experience using and configuring Linux and Windows operating systems
• Experience with container technologies
• Experience working with databases such as Oracle, CloudSQL, MSSQL, or CockroachDB

• Experience with Kubernetes services such as Google Kubernetes Engine
• Experience in software development
• Experience in on-prem infrastructure builds
• Knowledge in various branching/merging methodologies and release procedures
