Senior Integrations Engineer, Workato

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Integrations Engineer with a strong focus on finance systems and back-office solutions. This role is ideal for a candidate who not only excels at building robust integrations using Workato and other integration platforms, but also deeply understands finance systems, ERP, and other back-office applications. You will play a critical role in architecting, developing, and maintaining integrations that connect various enterprise applications—especially those supporting finance, accounting, procurement, and other back-office operations—across the GitLab ecosystem and cloud systems. Additionally, you will drive business operations and work aimed at enhancing data-driven decision making and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Integration Engineering & Technical Delivery

• Integration Development:
• Design, develop, test, and deploy integrations between GitLab and various enterprise systems using Workato and other iPaaS tools (e.g., CloudBlue,Tray.io).
• Ensure that integrations are designed as reusable building blocks to foster efficient, scalable, and repeatable processes.
• Configure, build, test, and deploy integration solutions on the chosen integration platform.
• Technical Architecture & Data Transformation:
• Align the Enterprise Architecture by building and maintaining key integrations across the GitLab product ecosystem, cloud systems (AWS, Azure, GCP), and other enterprise applications, with an emphasis on finance systems (ERP, accounting, billing) and back-office operations.
• Leverage ELT/ETL and data transformation techniques using tools like Snowflake, Redshift, and Google Big Query.
• Utilize various integration patterns and technologies such as REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, as well as data querying (SQL) and programming languages (Python, R).
• API and Slack BOT Management:
• Manage and integrate Slack BOTs along with other API-based solutions to ensure robust communication and automation solutions.
• Quality Assurance & Documentation:
• Collaborate with the Enterprise Applications team for comprehensive QA processes, scalable tests, release planning, and end user documentation.
• Clearly document processes, design proposals, and integration architectures to ensure alignment with GitLab’s enterprise standards.

Business Partnership & Operations

• Business Partnership:
• Engage regularly with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, including Sr. Managers, Directors, Senior Directors, and functional VPs, with an emphasis on finance and back-office operations.
• Build and manage holistic relationships with select partners to align integration strategies with broader business objectives.
• Business Operations:
• Develop and continuously improve internal analysis and planning processes that enhance the efficiency of delivering business solutions, particularly within finance systems and back-office workflows.
• Document all processes thoroughly in the company handbook to ensure transparency and consistency.

Project Management & Communication

• Project Leadership:
• Independently drive end-to-end delivery processes with minimal guidance.
• Run medium-sized projects that improve the company’s data-driven insights and operational efficiency, especially in the realm of finance systems and back-office improvements.
• Communication:
• Articulate and document technical details clearly for a diverse audience, ranging from technical peers (Software Engineers, VP of IT) to business stakeholders (Sales Operations, Finance, functional VPs).
• Ensure that all integration solutions and project updates are communicated effectively and are easily accessible to all stakeholders.

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Team Collaboration:
• Work with peers to review technical design proposals and provide constructive feedback.
• Mentor and support junior integration engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience & Technical Expertise:
• 4+ years of application integration experience.
• Proven hands-on experience with iPaaS platforms like Workato, Mulesoft, Boomi, Tray.io, etc.
• Demonstrated integration experience across enterprise systems such as SalesForce, DocuSign CLM, Netsuite, Zuora Billing, Zuora Revenue, Coupa, Zip, Navan, Workday, ADP, eTrade, etc.
• Experience with at least one RPA technology (e.g., Workato, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Camunda).
• Strong proficiency in data querying (SQL), programming languages (Python, R), and familiarity with data visualization tools.
• Proficient in using integration technologies and protocols (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
• Additional Skills & Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience with Slack BOT & API management.
• Multiple integration certifications are highly preferred.
• Exceptional time management, prioritization skills, and resilience under pressure.
• Proven track record in managing business and technical relationships in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, committed to customer-centric solutions and robust security/confidentiality practices.
