Our Opportunity

GPJ is hiring a Senior CAD Detailer to join our growing team.

This role is on-site, requiring you to report to our Nashville, TN or Las Vegas, NV office location a minimum of 5 days per week.

Your Role

As a Senior CAD Detailer at GPJ, you are expected to operate with a high level of self-sufficiency as you produce Detailed Models, Construction Drawings, Floorplans, Installation Documents, and a variety of other deliverables using CAD applications like Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. You work closely with Fabrication Project Managers, Structural Engineers, Creative teams, Client Account teams, and Fabrication Shop personnel to translate scopes of work and design intent through iterative development and feedback cycles. Your position serves as a vital bridge between conceptual design and the final product, ensuring that what is fabricated aligns with project requirements.

Your role is to deliver exceptional service and high-quality outputs to project stakeholders, while upholding the Engineering Department’s mission of providing the best customer experience with safety, stability, and sufficiency. You also play a key role in developing space plans that determine how display elements are arranged at various events. In close collaboration with your team, you troubleshoot issues to finalize drawings for approval, which often means translating rough sketches from team members or structural engineers into detailed, accurate drawings. Additionally, you coordinate with the CNC department to streamline drawing processes and reduce redundancy.

Your Skills

• Expert 2D and 3D CAD modeling and Drafting skills with working knowledge of materials and the ability to comprehend how things go together and to visualize in 3D.
• Work from sketches and/or input from the various project team members.
• Work well with others since drawings require input and approval from various departments and shop personnel in order to complete the final approved drawings used for fabrication. Being a “team player” is a must.
• Produce expected drawings quickly, efficiently and as error-free as possible. Drawings should be thoroughly self-checked before submittal for any type of approval. 
• Aggressively seek resolution from either the department head or other team members to prevent delays in the release of drawings. 
• Creatively solve problems – displays often push the envelope and require solutions to problems which have no precedent. 
• Calmly deal with numerous changes or “red-lines” to drawings
• Strong skills in 2D and 3D AutoCAD. Ability to comprehend how things go together and to visualize in 3D.

You are prepared and organized for meetings and presentations.

Your Experience

Experience & Education

• A minimum of 7 years of recent full-time 2D and 3D modeling, in Autocad and/or Inventor, in a work environment similar to our business, such as Architectural experience or another exhibit house.
• Ability to work extended hours, possibly weekends and holidays, during peak periods which occur frequently throughout the year. Strong levels of perseverance are needed to push through the very tough work schedule.
• A degree is not required for this position, but is always a plus. Architectural or Engineering degrees are the most relevant.

Travel & Mobility

Willingness and ability to travel infrequently (less than 5%) for site inspection, data capture and Engineering support

Your Impact

In your role, you’ll have both influence and responsibility over construction drawings and assigned floorplans—key elements that directly impact the success of the shop, project managers, CNC programming, project timelines, and installation teams. Your work will help guide not only the accuracy and efficiency of fabrication but also the execution of on-site installations.

You’re also expected to take an active role in teaching and mentoring engineers and associate engineers, sharing your knowledge to help elevate the entire team’s performance and ensure consistent standards across projects.
