GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. This position is full-time and will serve the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN.

  • Provide Project Engineering support and coordination for Enriched Uranium Operations (EUO) Production Microwave initiatives to increase equipment reliability and process throughout.
  • Provide Project Engineering support necessary to complete design and implementation of data acquisition network and remote monitoring capability for out gassing oven equipment used by Special Materials Operations (SMO) Production personnel.
  • Provide technical integration, leadership, guidance, and direction to other multi-disciplined engineering teams as requested for high profile plant initiatives and will appropriately apply ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements for work in nuclear facilities.
  • Plan and direct the engineering activities on projects.
  • Establish detailed project design scope, budgets, and schedules.
  • Professionally coordinate engineering efforts with Production, Maintenance, Project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls personnel.
  • Review project engineering progress against approved schedules and take corrective action when required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
  • Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium. Y-12 supports efforts to reduce nuclear proliferation risk and performs work for other government agencies (energy.gov).
