Position Description

Our Senior Manager is an engineering leader who leads their engineering team to innovate and build new engineering solutions & improve and enhance existing solutions. This Senior Manager will lead strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise to optimize performance of collaboration tooling in the GEICO environment, unlock the value of SaaS collaboration applications for end users, brainstorm solutions alongside engineers, and partner with stakeholder groups like Network, User Support, and Endpoint teams.

Position Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager, you will:

  • Lead projects involving major business collaboration platforms, including migrations, sunsets, rollouts, and feature enhancements
    • Work with your Director to address project dependencies, negotiate and estimate incremental delivery dates for milestones with the stakeholder community, and deliver projects on time
    • Partner with comms and change management stakeholders to align technical and non-technical project steps
    • Report on your team’s progress for key projects and other important measurables, in addition to presenting detailed plans to mitigate identified project risks
    • Understand how requirements and design choices may impact systems across multiple areas
    • Ensure extremely high uptime and priority support for mission-critical systems
    • Craft and deliver strategic and well-structured persuasive arguments to drive projects that drive process improvement, enhance cost leadership, and/or customer experience
    • Develop the team budget and be accountable for reporting on results achieved at regular intervals
  • Be the direct people leader for your organization
    • Initiate and support performance evaluation of team members
    • Cultivate a culture that motivates all levels of performers to higher levels of achievement 
    • Build and maintain relationships with your team members to support an environment of trust
    • Influence those you motivate and coach to be receptive to feedback by cultivating a culture that acknowledges and expects individuals to grow and be accountable as a result of the experience gained (growth mindset)
    • Identify where technical or analytical skill gaps put future team deliverables at risk and craft a plan to remediate, consistently challenge team members to share knowledge and learn new technologies
    • Proficiently execute difficult conversations on development and performance
    • Manage up to leadership as well as give feedback when appropriate
    • Administer coaching plan(s) and Performance Improvement Plan(s)
    • Compliant negotiation and execution of warning administration and/or involuntary termination
    • Significantly contribute to the team planning process to include surfacing associate level proposals 

Qualifications

  • Tangible experience administrating collaboration tooling, including Slack, Zoom, Webex, and/or Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience deploying telecom platforms, managing both software admin panel and telecom infrastructure
  • Experience with conference room hardware installation, administration, and relationships with hardware providers
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc.)
  • Experience leading vendor relationships, including knowledge of typical SaaS licensing structures
  • Experience reporting out on project status, and assessing (then mitigating) areas of timeline or budget risk
  • Experience as an engineering manager developing a roadmap and assigning work in macro (quarterly planning) and micro (sprint planning) time scales
  • Proficiency in Project Management and work item management tools such as Azure DevOps
  • Proficiency in Program Management tools such as MS Project, Visio, and Excel
  • Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments
  • Demonstrated track record of constructing, interpreting, and applying metrics to your work and decision making, with ability to use those metrics to identify correlation between drivers and results, and using that information to drive prioritization and action
  • Tangible people leadership experience managing high and low performing associates
  • Understanding of the Security and Compliance needs of the business and how they apply to the Collaboration suite, including certificates and secure communication

 Experience

  • 5+ years of engineering experience on collaboration platforms such as Slack, Zoom, Webex, and Microsoft Teams
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience in a technical environment
  • 5+ years in an enterprise-scale environment

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience


 

Annual Salary

$120,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
