Job Description

The Energy to Change the World

GE Vernova is a planned, purpose-built energy company that includes Power, Wind, and Electrification segments and is supported by its accelerator businesses. At GE Vernova, we are working to solve the world’s most pressing challenge—the energy transition. Our Gas Power business provides more advanced, cleaner, and efficient power that people depend on today while building the energy technologies of the future.

What impact you will make:

As a Reliability Engineer Co-op within the METEM team, you will ensure the long-term health and performance of the specialized assets that build the world's most advanced gas turbines.

You will focus on minimizing equipment downtime and optimizing maintenance strategies for

non-traditional machining technologies, directly impacting the plant's ability to meet global energy demands.

Depending on your background, you will support the reliability of the following technology areas:

  • Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) & Fast Hole Drilling (FHD): Supporting the uptime of high-precision drilling equipment used for turbine nozzles and buckets

  • Electrochemical Machining (ECM): Managing the reliability of specialized industrial electrochemistry equipment, gaining experience in chemical handling systems and electrical power supplies.

What you will do:

  • Asset Performance Management: Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends in unplanned downtime and equipment degradation.

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead or participate in "Deep Dive" investigations into equipment failures to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.

  • Maintenance Strategy: Help develop and refine Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) program for complex EDM and ECM assets to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).

  • Criticality Analysis: Evaluate equipment criticality to prioritize maintenance activities and optimize spare parts inventory for high-impact production machines.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Maintenance Technicians and Process Engineers to troubleshoot recurring mechanical, electrical, or chemical system issues.

  • Standards & Safety: Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of production equipment.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in Kaizen and 5S events to optimize shop floor layouts and identify opportunities to reduce waste in daily maintenance workflows.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in an engineering discipline.

  • Accepted Majors: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Material Science Engineering.

  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).

Desired Characteristics:

  • Interest in equipment life-cycle management, maintenance engineering, or reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).

  • Analytical approach to problem-solving (ability to look at data and see patterns of failure).

  • Strong technical curiosity regarding how complex machines work and why they fail.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical components (pumps, motors, actuators) or electrical control systems.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Internship Term: Fall/Winter 2026 (Target Start: September 21, 2026; Target End: March 27, 2027).

  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (1st Shift).

  • Authorization: This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). • Pay Range: $21.00/hour  $34.00/hour (Based on years of study completed).

Benefits Available to You:

  • Relocation Assistance: Reimbursement for reasonable expenditures for employees with a permanent address >50 miles from the work location.

  • Housing Allowance: Weekly allowance to help off-set living expenses for eligible students.

  • Retirement: Access to the GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after 90 days of service.
