The Mechanical Engineer will be able to work under the supervision Mechanical Leader in the preparation of detail design and technical analysis.Job Description
Mechanical Design
- Perform mechanical design of power transformers based on customer specifications, electrical design requirement, applicable standards, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Design and review transformer general arrangement drawing, internal arrangements, tank designs, covers, conservators, radiators/coolers, piping, support structures and other mechanical components.
- Create and evaluate mechanical design and arrangement of transformer core, windings, clamping structures, insulation components, leads, and active-part assembly against short circuit forces.
- Design transformer tanks, covers, stiffeners, lifting devices, jacking pads, pulling eyes, foundation arrangements and supporting structures and verify the mechanical strength under full vacuum and specified positive internal pressure.
- Design the transformer cooling capacity base on specified cooling requirements.
- Perform and manage mechanical design via coordination of various activities, such as create analysis report for tank/material strength, seismic calculation, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Fan flow and others analysis required to be submitted.
Bill of Materials (BOM)
Extract and compile parts information to generate accurate BOMs and part lists for manufacturing
Technical Support
- - Provide guidance to production teams on engineering and manufacturing matters, troubleshooting mechanical issues during assembly
- - Apply engineering fundamentals to practical problem-solving (Root Cause Analysis)
- - Have a good coordination with industrial team in support of achieving the product with no errors, worker’s safety, environmental concern and cost efficiency.
- - Occasionally contact outside suppliers and customer related to design activities.
- - Continuously do improvement to shorten the lead time of mechanical design process (create automation, standardization) and cost optimization.
- - Able to perform Technical Risk Assessment, identify the required mitigation action and ensuring compliance with EHS requirement and directives.
Project Coordination
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, industrial and quality departments, to ensure smooth project execution and deliver the transformer on time.
Qualification/Requirement:
- - Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
- - Knowledgeable with AUTOCAD tool, Inventor, ANSYS and Microsoft Office
- - Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in power transformer manufacturing
- - Good communication and interpersonal skill
