Location: Zipf

Time Type: Full time

Job Description

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Mechanical Engineer to help design and develop the next generation of ultrasound consoles. In this role, you will take ownership of mechanical design activities across the product lifecycle - from early concept development and requirements definition through verification and validation, manufacturing and field support.

Job Description

You will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team and you will work closely with different engineering teams, product management, clinical, quality, manufacturing, sourcing, and service stakeholders to translate user and business needs into robust, manufacturable, and serviceable mechanical solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Mechanical design and development activities for next-generation ultrasound systems and subsystems.
  • Align requirements, interfaces, and design decisions with stakeholders across functions and locations.
  • Support the development of mechanical concepts for system architecture, component design, enclosure design, structural elements, thermal management, and serviceability.
  • Own packaging design, including component integration, space optimization, manufacturability, and transport robustness.
  • Create and maintain mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, tolerance analysis, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Plan and execute mechanical verification and validation activities, including test definition, test execution, issue resolution, and documentation.
  • Assess design risks and support design reviews, failure investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are producible, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Support cross-segment alignment of mechanical design methods, standards, interfaces, and best practices.
  • Provide end-to-end technical ownership from early design phases through product release, manufacturing ramp-up, installation, service, and field support.
  • Communicate technical status, risks, decisions, and recommendations clearly to project teams and leadership.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related discipline
  • Experience in mechanical product design and development is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines and organizational boundaries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage
  • A collaborative, ownership-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and influence decisions
  • A high level of motivation, ownership, and accountability
