Job Description Summary

Edison Works, the military business unit of GE Aerospace, is on the front line of developing advanced technology to support our nation’s defense. The Next Generation Products team is responsible for a significant New Product Introduction (NPI) program developing from GE Aerospace’s investments in science and technology. This role is an Engine Systems Design Integration (ESDI) position.

In this role you will serve as the technical integrator who connects engine modules, components, and partner teams into a single high-performing, operable propulsion system. You will ensure requirements are clearly defined, flowed down, validated, and controlled across the product, while managing interfaces, configuration, CTQ and risk trades, and system-level verification activities to support successful new product introduction. The role combines strong systems engineering discipline with cross-functional leadership, requiring someone who can lead technical reviews, align stakeholders, solve complex integration problems, and translate detailed analysis into clear decisions that improve performance, quality, and program execution in a fast-paced defense development environment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
  • Facilitates technical forums and engineering review cycles, focusing on clarity of message, quality records retention, and effective meeting logistics.
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down.
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
  • Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams.
  • Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in aerospace propulsion, engine systems, or closely related mechanical system design/integration roles.
  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance.

  • Demonstrated experience with engine system architecture, module/component integration, and cross-functional technical leadership
  • Demonstrated capability to apply FLIGHT DECK fundamentals and behaviors, including standard work, daily and visual management, problem solving, action planning, and continuous improvement in support of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) outcomes.
  • Engineering experience in GE Aerospace systems integration or similar systems engineering role.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional team work environment
