Advanced Lead Engineer – Stress & Life

Location: Prague

Time Type: Full time

Job Description

Job Description Summary

The Advanced Lead Engineer – Stress & Life is a key member of the Stress & Life team, responsible for providing technical leadership, direction, and support to help the team meet its objectives.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Analysis Engineer is responsible for performing mechanical stress, life, and structural integrity analyses on components and assemblies to support design, validation, and certification of GE Aerospace products.

  • Execute mechanical and structural analyses in ANSYS (e.g., static strength, fatigue, vibration, thermal‑mechanical) for turboprop engine components and modules
  • Build, run, and validate ANSYS models, ensuring appropriate boundary conditions, loads, material data, and mesh quality for high‑quality results
  • Assess margins to allowable limits, evaluate failure modes, and clearly document conclusions and recommendations
  • Role also encompasses leading and performing analyses that will range from Low cycle fatigue (LCF), high cycle fatigue (HCF), fracture mechanics (FM), required to establish safe operating life limits for the engine’s parts.
  • Prepare structured technical reports that clearly present assumptions, methods, results, and conclusions in a traceable, review‑ready format
  • Demonstrate compliance to EASA CS-E requirements, by linking analysis and test evidence to specific CS-E paragraphs and internal certification plans
  • Collaborate with design, systems, materials, and certification engineers to define requirements, review design changes, and support design‑to‑certification activities
  • Support design reviews and certification reviews, presenting analysis outcomes, answering technical questions, and addressing actions
  • Contribute to issue investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions for test findings, non‑conformances, or field events
  • Apply and follow GE Aerospace engineering standards, standard work, and best practices for analysis, documentation, and configuration control
  • Continuously improve analysis efficiency and quality, including reusing methods, templates, and models, and leveraging automation or digital tools where applicable
  • Building strong fundamentals in mechanics, materials, and structural analysis, while contributing directly to the safety, reliability, and performance of GE Aerospace engines and systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Experience level:  Relevant engineering experience consistent with required level, including sufficient post‑graduate experience in mechanical/structural analysis or similar
  • Analysis fundamentals: Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials, structural analysis, fatigue, and fracture mechanics (LCF, HCF, FM)
  • FEA tools: Hands‑on experience with finite element analysis, preferably using ANSYS (coursework, thesis, internship, or professional experience)
  • Turbomachinery / rotating hardware: Understanding of rotating components, turbomachinery, or mechanical design for high‑speed rotating parts
  • Simulation skills:  Ability to build, run, and interpret models, including definition of loads, boundary conditions, material properties, and mesh quality checks
  • Life assessment:   Basic understanding of methods used to establish safe operating life limits (e.g., LCF/HCF life assessment, crack growth, safety factors/margins)
  • Tools & digital skills: Proficiency with engineering tools such as ANSYS, Excel, NX, and at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data handling/automation is a plus
  • Communication & language: Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Technical communication: Proven ability to document analysis in clear technical reports and present results and recommendations to engineering peers or reviewers

Would be an advantage:

  • Regulatory awareness: Awareness of aerospace certification concepts and prior exposure to EASA Part 21 / CS‑E compliance demonstration practices
  • Experience in turboprop engine programs: Prior work on commercial turboprop or turbofan engine components is an advantage
  • Global collaboration: Experience working in international or cross‑cultural engineering teams

What we offer:

  • Annual bonus up to 15% of yearly salary.

  • Monthly contribution of 6% of base salary to Cafeteria or Pension/Life Insurance, in addition another CZK 600/monthly to Cafeteria.

  • Hybrid setting - after onboarding home office possible.

  • Meal vouchers (130 CZK/day) fully paid by employer.

  • Two extra weeks of paid vacation above the legal minimum (6 weeks total).

  • Fresh fruit and vegetables at work twice a week.

  • Multisport card contribution.

  • Health Days (massages, specialist consultations, yoga sessions, wellness packages).

  • Private on-site gym.
