The Vice President for Gartner.com Platform Engineering will lead a team responsible for building and maintaining the tools and APIs that power the personalized client experience for the www.gartner.com website. This includes architecting and building APIs for Identity Management, Content, Entitlement as well as Recommender and Search Engines. The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience in building and maintaining a platform of reusable components that support a broad set of applications and user experiences. They have built and maintained scalable, performant and resilient systems that empower web and mobile applications. They should have demonstrable experience innovating with technology to meet business needs.

What you’ll do:

• Manage teams of developers and data engineers and that build and maintain critical apis and services used across Gartner’s client facing applications

• Hiring, performance management and career development
• Define system architecture and technologies

What you’ll need:

• 10+ years of experience in a management position leading a teams of engineers
• Significant experience working directly with Product Development in problem solving
• Excellent understanding of Database Design and Data Management concepts and Strategies
• Significant experience platform engineering
• Experience building Recommender and Search Engines
• Experience supporting highly performant and available web apis with a global client base
• Experience using AWS  cloud based infrastructure
• Excellent understanding Agile practices and significant experience using Scrum
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and group presentations)
• Strong Project Management skills
• Excellent prioritization skills

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 160,000 USD - 238,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
