Gartner Analysts create Gartner research and analysis, communicate it to clients and support the sales force in new sales and client retention. In this team we provide insight and actionable advice to clients in the area of Software Engineering. We write about, present, and advise organizations; diagnose root causes of client challenges and advise on the best course of action. A Director Analyst is responsible for interfacing almost continuously with C-level and other senior executives to foster deep and broad long-term relationships.
What you`ll do
- Analyze technologies, trends, best practices, and skills in the following areas:
- Establish Software Engineering Competency and Strategy: Lead a modern, high-performing software engineering organization, with consistent and predictable cadence of software delivery, by using proven approaches, top practices and strategies for scaling the team as it grows.
- Improve and Modernize Developer Skills: Build software development skills, such as agile, DevOps, API creation, full stack development and modernization, through utilizing communities of practice, mentoring and training.
- Improve Developer Productivity and Developer Experience: Increase developer productivity through improved developer experience.
- Operating Model: Implement a well-designed operating model so that the software engineering organization delivers high-quality software efficiently and effectively, avoiding practices that can hinder productivity and generate subpar results.
- Role and Relationships: Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, get on the right career path and successfully evolve in the role.
- Create high quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” content based on research best practices and methodologies
- Apply expansive knowledge of Gartner research to help clients make smarter and faster decisions in following areas:
- Build and Deliver New Digital Products/Experiences to Drive Business Results
- Build a World-Class Software Engineering Organization
- Software Engineering Leadership
- Select and Contextualize Global Gartner research for Japanese client
- Provide high quality and timely research peer review and support team members
- Present at Gartner, Industry and Client events
- Supports Sales and Service Delivery partners to drive account growth and retention as well as client demand for Gartner’s research
- Actively participate in or lead research community meetings as needed to discuss research issues and collaborate effectively with peers
Who you are
- 15+ years of relevant professional experience
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English is mandatory
- Some of the following experience in software engineering
- Designing, building and testing large scale enterprise business applications.
- Leading and managing large scale enterprise business application development projects.
- Training and coaching software engineers.
- Developing an enterprise level short and long term application strategy.
- Evaluating and recommending software engineering tools and services.
- Experience in security-conscious architecture design and application design standards is a plus.
- Experience in modernizing from mainframes is a plus.
- Line management experience as an application development department is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to explain complex ideas effectively
- Strong analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond to questions effectively
- Strong C-relevance and executive presence
- Genuine curiosity to new technologies and market trends. Willingness and ability to do tremendous learning in long term
- Ability to work independently, while also with excellent people skills and collaborating internationally
- Proficient in distilling data or information to identify key findings
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
