About this role:
Are you intellectually curious and motivated by ideas? Do you want to lead teams that create research products widely used by executive leaders worldwide? Gartner is searching for an India-based Director to join our research team within the Content Maintenance Center of Excellence (CoE). This role provides an exciting opportunity to partner with Gartner’s Research & Advisory leadership and scale the content maintenance capability across research practices, along with an exposure to the full range of leadership-level strategic and management topics. The Director will be responsible for (a) setting and communicating the vision, strategy, and value proposition of the CoE with global leadership, and (b) scaling COE capability across research practices, helping our clients navigate their most pressing concerns of the day. This involves working & reviewing with the research team on a wide range of written deliverables and producing research providing strategic and actionable advice for top executives, while breaking down complex topics into an easily digestible and consumable format. Being part of this team will provide you with opportunities to support discussions among various industry leaders, identify and design tools and frameworks to support clients in critical processes, and help organizations transform the way they operate. The Director must be intellectually curious and have the desire to quickly develop “generalist” knowledge. The role is a key feeder to careers reaching the highest levels of the firm.
What you will do:
- Lead a team (~15+ associates including TMs) through effective coaching / continuous performance feedback, managing performance at all levels and hiring, developing, and retaining top talent.
- Manage team for quality through established processes and metrics, while also driving Content Maint. COE’s goal to continuously improve and transform its operating model.
- Build and own all relationships between the CoE and stakeholders across various Gartner locations globally, to seamlessly drive research initiatives. This includes working with peers across BUs and senior practice leaders to develop operational plans, discuss strategic directions and incorporate ongoing improvements.
- Learn and execute Gartner's proven methodology for conducting world-class research that helps identify best practice solutions to many of today's biggest business challenges.
- Provide thought leadership to the research team to interpret, collect, analyze, and structure information from top executives that are actionable, applicable (not academic), and aligned with their workflows.
- Lead initiatives for on-going improvements, innovation, quality improvement, reporting metrics and ideas on supporting the broader R&A business. Continuously and collaboratively prioritize efforts against areas of highest business impact.
- Drive timely delivery of a regular calendar of research deliverables — including whitepapers, presentations, client-shared materials, case studies and best practice documents .
- Ensure the quality of deliverables by undertaking regular checks of the researchers’ work by reviewing documents, listening into/shadowing discussions with stakeholders and SMEs.
- Motivate, coach, facilitate, problem solve, address people-related issues, and be actively involved in the day-to-day activities of the team.

Preferred experience:
- Master's (Management, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, MBA etc.) or PhD degrees in fields such as management, social science, sociology etc.
- 9+ years of research and/or management consulting experience
- At least 2 years of experience managing research projects end-to-end.
- At least 2 years of experience in leading and managing a team of researchers.
- Prior experience of managing TMs
- Demonstrated ability to teach and relay ideas, engage clients and work in global teams.
