About the role:
Do you want to lead teams that create research products widely used by executive leaders worldwide? Are you intellectually curious, motivated by ideas, and excited to inspire and lead others toward common goals? Gartner is searching for an India-based Director to join our Infrastructure & Operations Research Team, a team that produces actionable best practices targeting senior IT leaders in the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) space. The Director will be responsible for supporting the Managing VP in setting and communicating the strategic vision of the team, owning and leading projects to create innovative content for clients, managing junior researchers, and contributing to defining future paths and growth of the team. This role is suited to someone with experience leading others toward achieving priority goals, the ability to take insights and create innovative content that helps clients save time, and the knowledge on using data to inform research.
What you will do:
Develop insights and create content, particular in the form of actionable content (such as tools) that allow clients to effectively execute on Gartner’s best practice insights:
- Experiment with content types to drive greater client engagement
- Draw upon insights from across Gartner in new innovative form factors
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, efficient reasoning, creative reasoning, development and use of data and evidence, and willingness to challenge conventional wisdom
- Generating high volumes of bold and creative hypotheses, accurately recognizing patterns, correctly undertaking analysis, and challenging conventional wisdom
- Communicate findings in a clear and compelling manner, including compelling text and graphics
Manage and lead junior researchers in end-to-end research projects:
- Lead a team through effective coaching and continuous performance feedback, managing performance at all levels, developing talent, and supporting career growth
- Own research projects end-to-end, while inspiring team members to collaborate and work effectively together toward common goals
- Lead initiatives for on-going improvements, innovation, quality improvement, reporting metrics and ideas; continuously and collaboratively prioritize efforts against areas of highest business impact
- Drive timely delivery of a regular calendar of research deliverables while also ensuring the quality of deliverables by undertaking regular checks of the researchers’ work by reviewing and editing documents
- Motivate, coach, facilitate, problem solve, address people-related issues, and be actively involved in the day-to-day activities of the team
Leverage data effectively to inform thinking across Gartner:
- Engage in the design and creative of data-driven research
- Collaborate with Quantitative researchers to develop surveys and other tools designed to spot interesting trends and capture data & evidence
Preferred Experiences:
Experience managing and coaching junior staff in a team environment
Experience with project management
Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of business, data science and technical stakeholders
9+ years of progressive business experience in quantitative and qualitative research
Demonstrated ability to conduct surveys, engage in data analysis, and translate qualitative and quantitative analysis into actionable business strategies
Proven communications skills, and a superior ability to frame insight in written and visual presentation
Support change efforts through a positive attitude, constructive suggestions, and peer engagement
Interest in IT and technology-led innovation
(highly preferred) Knowledge of CIO and I&O workflows and activities
(preferred) Master's or PhD degree in any field as information technology, management, economics, data science, history, sociology etc.
