Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Israel, Tel Aviv (IL)

This role is core to Gambit’s fast-paced, impact-driven R&D culture. You’ll own end-to-end features and critical systems - taking ideas from concept to production, making technical decisions with a clear line of sight to product impact, and maintaining high standards alongside fast delivery. About the Role

• Cloud-native architecture: Design and build core backend systems for scale, reliability, and security
• System ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of critical components, workflows, and complex technical challenges
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product, platform, and research teams, and partner with engineering leadership on technical direction
• Engineering standards: Mentor teammates and champion strong design practices, code quality, and review culture
• Technical decision-making: Make practical, forward-thinking calls in a fast-moving system and a rapidly evolving field
• Modern stack: Leverage modern technologies, cloud infrastructure, and tooling to ship advanced resilience solutions quickly

Requirements

•  ~5 years of backend engineering experience in strong engineering teams (startup or mature) - must
• Deep knowledge of cloud architecture, microservices, and modern databases, including designing and refactoring complex systems - must
• Experience with Golang, or strong backend fundamentals; GraphQL, Python, Protobuf, and gRPC - advantage
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable cloud-native design
• Ability to make practical, forward-thinking technical decisions in fast-moving environments
• Excellent communication and collaboration across technical and product teams
• Comfortable owning priorities in a fast-paced startup setting
