Research Intern

(Fall Internship) Research Intern at Fujitsu's Converging Technology Laboratory 

(Santa Clara, CA) 

The Converging Technology Laboratory (CT Lab) at Fujitsu specializes in combining research in multiple technical fields to address values in the increasingly diverse society. We believe this situation requires a new approach to combine multidisciplinary knowledge including natural science, and humanities. We strive to provide an evidence-based scientific approach to shape public policies and economic activities.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our CT Lab in Silicon Valley. This dynamic internship opportunity will focus on developing and deploying advanced deep-learning models for novel applications with an emphasis on geospatial data, and weather data. This will include working with vision foundational models, geospatial foundational models as well as weather foundation models. The role will involve tackling various applications such as object detection, image classification, and segmentation tasks in both image and video data formats.

 

The internship duration is up to 3 months for full-time positions and up to 6 months for part-time positions. The anticipated start date is October 1st, 2024, but we are flexible and can accommodate different starting dates.

 

Job responsibilities 

1. Design, develop, and train computer vision models for various applications with multimodal data such as geospatial and weather/climate data
2. Research and implement innovative techniques and applications for integrating weather data with geospatial data, utilizing different foundational models, including geospatial foundational models.
3. Develop and optimize pipelines for data acquisition, preprocessing, annotation, and model training
4. Work closely with domain experts to understand the requirements and challenges of different downstream tasks, such as disaster management
5. Publish research paper in scientific journals and conferences

Requirements 

1. Currently enrolled in a Master or PhD program in a relevant research program.
2. Programming experience in Python, and experience working with frameworks like PyTorch
3. Experience developing and training deep learning architectures.
4. Experience working with deep learning architecture for image and/or video applications.
5. First-author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, etc)
