Data Engineer | Digital Transformation (DX) Team (IAF)

Role Purpose

Shares knowledge and experience of the skill with others, including tools and techniques, defining those most appropriate for the environment. A senior data engineer designs and leads the implementation of data flow to connect data sources, recognizes opportunities to re-use existing data flows, leads the build of data streaming systems, optimizes the code to ensure processes perform optimally, leads work on database management.

Key Accountabilities

- Responsible for designing and implementing data models that support the organization's data needs, including defining data structures, relationships, and constraints.

- Responsible for ensuring that data meets the required governance standards, including compliance with regulatory requirements and data retention policies.

- Responsible for providing technical leadership to the data engineering team, including mentoring junior and regular team members, providing technical guidance. Responsible for onboarding new members.

- Responsible for Data Peer Reviews in line with  process - ensuring all data work has been completed to the correct standards

- Acts as BI & Reporting Technical Manager - responsible for ensuring that new standards are understood and effectively communicated back to the Data team. Works with BI & Reporting Technical Team to understand any proposed environmental / infrastructure changes and provide input and ensuring that any impact is understood and communicated to the Service Delivery Manager

- Responsible for ensuring that the data infrastructure is secure and meets the required security standards, including data encryption, access control, and data privacy.

- Works closely with other stakeholders and with a low level of supervision, including data scientists, analysts, and business users, to understand their data needs and provide technical support.

- Problem solving mindset, continuous learning and improvement towards delivering objectives and providing solutions to meet agreed timelines.

- Works independently, takes ownership and support others in solving problems related with SSIS, SSAS, MS SQL Server, Power BI, Visual Studio.

- Experience with MS SQL server maintenance and performance optimization.

- Experience integrating data from APIs.

- Experience with Gitlab or other source control tools.

- Typically has +5 years experience within a consultancy or equivalent role.

- Responsible for ensuring that all tickets relating to BAU Support adhere to the agreed processes and published SLAs.
