What we’re seeking:
Responsible for the design of outside plant network from central office to the customer premises, including underground, aerial, and buried plant for new construction and maintenance activity in the Frontier network. In this remote role, you will be expected to collaborate with peers as required but can work anywhere in the contiguous United States.
What we need in you:
We need you to be a motivated self-starter with good communications skills and a clear ability to prioritize. Your ability to manage your own workload, work with other engineers, vendors and municipalities will also serve you well.
What you’ll do:
- Utilizing current and evolving technologies including digital loop carrier, broadband, and DSL to accomplish work assignments
- Utilizing personal computers and/or paper records to obtain information, design circuits and distribute circuit orders
- Utilizing automated design programs as warranted
- Interfacing with other organizations throughout the provisioning process in order to facilitate an accurate design
- Using OSP methods & procedures and multiple databases to prepare designs
- Utilize service order systems to resolve errors, assignment inventory, and DLC records, and hi-capacity circuits
- Using planning documents, field notes, and multiple databases to analyze data and prepare specific estimates, routine work orders, and/or other defined projects for growth, relief, customer demand, and damaged plant in the outside plant network
- Overseeing work of Engineering vendors as necessary to manage workload
- Tracking and monitoring construction and other departments, which may include contractors, to ensure the timely completion of the engineering work orders and plans issued
- Using economically cost-effective methods and interfacing with multiple databases to ensure timely customer satisfaction with provisioning issues
- Ability to Engineer Greenfield subdivisions with fiber and maintain our new extensive FTTH network in the Brookville/Troy/Tipp City, OH area
- Ability to obtain permits from municipalities and joint-use partners
- Utilizing computer-assisted drafting tools, where available

- Salary Range: $54,000 to $105,000

What background you should have:
- Four-year Engineering degree is highly preferred but relevant experience will be strongly considered
- 3+ years of experience designing OSP and electronic systems preferred
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong computer skills in Window projects and ability to learn new systems
- Driver’s license
