As a member of the SRE-Backend team, you will be part of a team that is driving the development of a stable, reliable, scalable, performant, fault-tolerant, and monitored applications, platforms and microservices, achieving high availability through standardization.

Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of the systems that power Freenow by Lyft's mobility solutions, affecting thousands of drivers and millions of customers.

YOUR DAILY ADVENTURES WILL INCLUDE:

• Own the Feature, Own the Code – feel responsible for what you create. It all starts with bringing in your feature ideas, goes over development, testing and ends in deploying your code and monitoring it.
• Maintain and improve the existing systems by finding bottlenecks and performance issues and improving resource usage (DB access, cache, messaging, etc.).
• Establish and enforce standard practices and guidelines for development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Develop comprehensive monitoring and observability capabilities to gain insights into the health, performance, and behavior of our platform and microservices.
• Participate in the evolution of our  incident response flow, guaranteeing the highest transparency levels.
• Collaborate with your team members in an Agile environment, contribute to and live our agile ceremonies.
• Stay on top of the latest technology trends and bring best practices to our daily work.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

• Strong experience with Go and, at least, another programming language.
• Experience in Kubernetes.
• Passionate about building reliable and scalable backend systems.
• Experience in SDLC, automated tests and CI/CD tools.
• Familiarity with monitoring platforms (i.e., Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Datadog).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Keen about principles and practices of scalable web applications, such as RESTful API’s, dealing with transactions, and resiliency.
• High level of creativity; there’s all the freedom to think outside the box.
• Be communicative, proactive, and always collaborative.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  Nice to have:

• Experience working with AWS or similar cloud service providers.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Experience with Python, Kotlin or Java.
