Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to create visually appealing, intuitive, and user-friendly interfaces. The designer should be adept at creating designs that focus on layout, color schemes, typography, and interactive elements to enhance the overall user experience. They need to understand user-centered design principles and how to translate user needs into functional designs.

Location: San Antonio/ Dallas (Texas)

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY FOCUS: USER-CENTERED DESIGN & VISUAL INTERFACES

User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design

Adept at creating visually appealing, intuitive, and user-friendly interfaces. This includes focusing on layout, color schemes, typography, and interactive elements to enhance the overall user experience.

Design Tools Proficiency

Strong command of industry-standard design tools is essential. This primarily includes Figma, known for its auto-layout, components, variants, and design libraries. Other relevant tools might include Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar software.

Visual Design Fundamentals

A solid grasp of typography, layout, color theory, and branding is crucial for creating engaging and effective visual interfaces. Ability to design with a strong visual aesthetic and ensure consistency with brand identity.

Wireframing and Prototyping

The ability to create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and interactive prototypes is key to communicating design ideas effectively and iterating on designs.

User Research and Usability

While focusing on the visual aspect, understanding user needs through research and testing is vital. Ability to incorporate user feedback and usability findings into designs.

Design Systems and Consistency

Understanding and contributing to design systems. Ensuring new designs adhere to existing guidelines while knowing when to propose updates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and engineering teams. Articulate design decisions and defend work to stakeholders.

Problem-Solving

Identify complex problems and develop user-friendly solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong command of Figma, Sketch, and/or Adobe XD
  • Solid grasp of typography, layout, color theory, and branding
  • Ability to create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and interactive prototypes
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles
  • Experience with user research and usability testing
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of design systems and consistency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design work
  • Experience with design systems contribution
  • Track record in fintech, insurance, or member-facing digital products
  • Hands-on experience with user research and A/B testing

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $90,000 - $110,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

Benefits:

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
