Job Description

Whether you’re an experienced professional or just getting started, your contributions matter at Fortra. If you’re passionate about tackling meaningful challenges alongside talented team members committed to helping each other succeed, all while having lots of fun, we want to hear from you. We offer competitive benefits and salaries, personal and professional development opportunities, flexibility, and much more!

As a Product Designer on Fortra’s Managed File Transfer (MFT) team, you will design complex enterprise experiences across GoAnywhere, Globalscape, and future MFT product initiatives. You will work with other Product Designers and Product Management to understand customer needs and translate them into intuitive, high-quality customer experiences. You will then collaborate with Engineering to bring those designs to life.

This is a senior individual-contributor role with meaningful ownership of assigned product areas and initiatives. You will contribute strong design craft, customer insight, and cross-functional collaboration while helping create a consistent user experience across the MFT portfolio.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Product Design

  • Lead end-to-end design for assigned MFT product areas and strategic initiatives, collaborating with other Product Designers and Product Management throughout discovery and experience design.
  • Shape product direction for complex workflows by framing ambiguous problems, evaluating tradeoffs, and influencing decisions with Product Management and Engineering.
  • Create user flows, information architecture, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes.
  • Design intuitive experiences for MFT product administration, workflow and project design, dashboards, analytics, and AI Assistant features.
  • Provide implementation-ready designs, interaction details, and acceptance criteria.
  • Review implemented UI and work with Engineering to resolve usability, visual, and interaction issues.

Customer Validation and Product Insight

  • Plan and conduct customer interviews, usability testing, and other validation activities.
  • Use analytics, telemetry, customer feedback, and research findings to identify usability issues and guide decisions.
  • Share clear findings and recommendations with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders.

Design Systems and Consistency

  • Apply and contribute to standard Fortra UI patterns and MFT-specific reusable components.
  • Improve consistency across GoAnywhere, Globalscape, and future MFT product experiences.
  • Partner with Engineering to align designs with design-system and front-end standards.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows and reduce UI inconsistency.

Collaboration and Influence

  • Facilitate design reviews and working sessions.
  • Manage design priorities and communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Contribute feedback in team critiques and cross-product design discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of product design, UX design, or related experience, including substantial enterprise software experience.
  • Experience owning complex product features from discovery through implementation.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic product thinking, interaction and visual design, prototypes, and shipped enterprise products.
  • Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering in an Agile environment.
  • Strong knowledge of usability, responsive design, and modern UI patterns.
  • Proficiency with Figma and familiarity with usability testing and product analytics tools.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with managed file transfer, cybersecurity, administration tools, workflow automation tools or other complex enterprise platforms.
  • Experience using product telemetry or analytics to inform UX improvements.
  • Experience with MUI, Material Design, React and design systems implemented in code.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve design operations, prototype quickly, and validate UI efficiently.

This position requires proficiency in English to interact, support and/or provide services to non-French speaking customers, employees and/or partners inside and/or outside the province of Quebec.

We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

We do not require Canadian work experience; all relevant experience will be considered. This posting is for new position.

Expected Compensation: C$145,000 - C$185,000
