Senior Manager - Software Engineering

Position Summary    

The Senior Manager of Software Engineering will lead one or two scrum teams in Product Development at Censis Technologies. The Manager leads the development team(s) to build and maintain technology-based, best-of-breed products for the marketplace that provide measurable value and returns for our customers. The Manager will also participate in some development activities such as code reviews.

Specific Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of developers and QA in designing, building, testing and maintaining software applications.
• Partner with Product Owners and others on release planning and delivery.
• Ensure the teams are following agile development best practices to deliver on-time, on-scope, high-quality releases.
• Leverage various AI tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI) to drive engineering efficiencies and increase in productivity and quality of the releases.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously seeking ways to incorporate innovative solutions into development practices.
• Help set and manage to departmental/team KPIs.
• Motivate, lead, and develop a team of diverse individuals with a variety of experience levels and skill sets. 
• Develop and apply consistent standardized development processes that are regularly updated through lessons learned.
• Manage application project planning and allocation of resources, assign and coordinate work of development staff.
• Responsible for hiring, formal evaluations, and remediation of performance problems for the application development staff
• Where applicable, the manager will contribute to code review tasks as a technical member of the team.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to lead development teams through all aspects of the agile development process. 
• Proven track record of on-time and high-quality project completions, and effective team building across a diverse staff.
• Strong technical abilities including coding best practices and all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to drive AI-based product development, using tools such as GitHub Copilot and Azure OpenAI to improve engineering team’s productivity. 
• Good working knowledge of front-end programming languages and frameworks such as Angular, React, JavaScript, Vue.js, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Good working knowledge in back-end languages such as Java, C#, Node.js, or Python.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, and microservices architecture
• 10+ years of technical experience with 2+ in a management capacity.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills

The Senior Manager of Software Engineering is a hands-on leader and mentor for his/her team.  This individual has strong communication and personnel management skills. He or she can manage multiple projects concurrently.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.  Master’s degree a plus but not required.
