Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Battery Engineer to drive the validation of our catalytic cathode design via performance and durability testing. This role reports within the broader Electrode Engineering Design Organization. You will partner with Materials, Mechanical, Reliability, and Process engineers on product development of our oxygen evolution electrode (OEE). What you'll do:

• Drive experimental design, testing, and analysis  to validate electrode performance, durability, and reliability requirements both as an independent product and as part of a full electrochemical cell.

• Develop new methods (such as accelerated testing), support development of  new test vehicles, and troubleshoot cell testing issues

• Identify performance gaps between product testing and lab-scale electrochemical data, and implement measures to close those gaps

• Support product risk assessments (e.g. failure modes and effects analyses), and lead risk reduction and mitigation efforts.

• Develop mechanistic understandings, by incorporating materials characterization with electrochemical data analysis. 

• Work with suppliers and our quality team to create scalable electrochemical quality acceptance tests.

What you'll bring:

• 5+ years of experience in testing and evaluating electrochemical systems (e.g., batteries, capacitors, fuel cells, catalysts) 

• Strong data analysis and statistical analysis capabilities to turn data into actionable insights (JMP, Python are a plus)

• Bias-to-action to root cause and prevent product failures, leveraging failure prediction and investigation methods, such as FMEA and RCA

• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with diverse set of stakeholders

• Ability to independently create and advance experiments with attention to detail

• BS, MS, or PhD in in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials engineering or related field
