About this role
Flex is looking for a Staff Database Engineer who will be responsible for driving various initiatives to ensure our database is reliable, scalable and optimal.
In this role, you will be part of the core platform team, responsible to maintain our SQL and NoSQL databases and build any database related component/strategy, such as intelligent routing, cross-service transactions, performance turning etc.
You will work closely with backend engineers and infrastructure team to solve our most pressing platform problems about cost-saving and supporting 10x growth.The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading scoping, design, prioritization, and implementation and can drive their production rollouts to completion with minimum oversight.
A minimum 6 years of experience with Databases operation/optimization is required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- You have strong computer science fundamentals
- You have 6 years of hands-on experience in database engineering (SQL and NoSQL)
- You have good understanding of SQL engine internals to help design and tune databases to get the optimal performance
- You have experience implementing and operating databases related components in distributed services environments at scale
- You have experience in cloud databases such as AWS Aurora, DynamoDB.
- You have great communication skills and are comfortable working with a distributed team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD to improve code stability and code quality
- Proficient in Infrastructure as Code, using tools like CDK and Terraform.
- You have experience with observability and monitoring tools such as DataDog, AWS Cloud watch
- For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $221,000-$237,000
- For all other states, the base salary pay range will be $199,000-$213,000
