Backend Engineer, Search

At Fiverr, we're revolutionizing how the world works together, and we're looking for a talented Backend Engineer to join our team. You'll play a pivotal role in enhancing the search experience for millions of users worldwide, designing and implementing advanced algorithms that make our platform more intuitive and effective.

• Develop and optimize search features to improve results recall and relevance, incorporating intent understanding from matching to ranking to placement.
• Utilize technologies like Elasticsearch, Lucene, and Solr to build scalable search solutions.
• Work closely with data scientists, product managers, and other engineers to integrate machine learning models into the search platform.
• Develop robust data pipelines using tools like Kafka and MongoDB to support search functionalities.
• Guide junior engineers, sharing best practices in search technology and software engineering.
• Analyze offline search metrics like nDCG, MRR and user behavior to identify areas for improvement. Conduct A/B testing and online experiments to validate changes and measure impact.
• Leading  complex business problems by deconstructing them into smaller issues, researching, and developing innovative search features.

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
• 3+ years of software development experience with a focus on search technologies and relevance engineering.
• Strong understanding of information retrieval, natural language processing, matching and ranking algorithms.
• Avid learner with a deep passion for data, eager to explore new territories and solve complex problems.
• Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to visualize and explain complex concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in programming languages like Go, Python.
• Proficient in A/B testing, metrics analysis, and experimental design.
• Utilize data pipelines tools like Kafka and MongoDB to build search solutions.
