We are actively seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with previous systems engineering experience to join our Platform Persistence team. At Five9, we work in small teams and move fast to drive our products and business to the next level. We look for crucial skills in team members such as a problem-solving mindset and intellectual curiosity, along with comfortable integration into a deeply collaborative system that rewards impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implementation, and automation of large-scale distributed systems both on prem and in cloud
- Maintain existing environments: on prem and cloud
- Participate in planned maintenances and be a part of on-call rotation
- Participate in troubleshooting of possible issues on infrastructure and systems side
- Work with Engineering teams to deliver high quality software
- Improve environments availability, observability, automate routine tasks via ansible, bash, python
Requirements:
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience, Linux administration(any flavor)
- Experience with VMware
- Experience with Incident Management Process, SRE best practices and continuous improvements
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience with config management tools such as Ansible, Puppet. Ansible is mandatory
- Experience with CI/CD methodologies & tools: GitLab, GitHub, etc.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes
- 2+ years of public cloud experience (preferably GCP)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (we are using Terraform)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice to have:
- Experience with OpenStack(we are moving towards clouds, both private and public)
- Experience with ArgoCD
- Experience with Prometheus and Grafana is highly appreciated
This role is fully remote for candidates who reside at least 50 miles away from our San Francisco or San Ramon office locations. For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Francisco or San Ramon locations, this role will be Hybrid.
