Quality Engineer II
Location: Porto, Portugal (Hybrid)

About the role
As a Quality Engineer, you’ll join the Software Quality Engineering organization and help ensure every Five9 release is reliable. You’ll work in a delivery team that owns an end-to-end, complex backend solution, building automated tests for our web frontend and REST APIs using a Python-based framework. You’ll grow your skills with support from senior engineers.
What you’ll do
- Write, maintain, and run end-to-end automated tests for the Five9 Virtual Contact Center application as part of a delivery team.
- Analyze test results using framework and product logs, and investigate failures with guidance from senior teammates when needed.
- Contribute to the Python automation framework and internal tools by implementing features and fixes.
- Help improve test stability and efficiency, including reducing flaky tests.
- Collaborate with Development, DevOps, and TechOps to resolve issues and clarify testing needs.
- Take part in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, Increment planning) and share ideas for improving our tools and processes.
What you bring
- 2 to 4 years of experience in test automation or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with Python 3 or another OOP language.
- Good understanding of programming fundamentals, including OOP.
- Experience automating REST APIs or similar interfaces.
- Working knowledge of Linux.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing methodologies.
- Experience with Git and an issue tracker such as JIRA.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and a collaborative, curious mindset.
Nice to have
- Experience with Selenium.
- Familiarity with test frameworks (pytest, Robot Framework).
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Basic knowledge of Docker or cloud environments.
- Interest in contact center or telephony technologies.
- Familiarity with multithreading or concurrency concepts.
Workplace location: This role is fully remote for candidates who reside outside Porto, Maia, Matosinhos, Gondomar, Valongo e Vila Nova de Gaia. Candidates who reside within those municipalities would be required to work in-office 3 days a week.
