About the role:

As an experienced Kubernetes Engineer (AKS/EKS/OpenShift preferred) you will design, implement, and manage robust Kubernetes implementations, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of containerised applications for a major banking client. You will collaborate closely with development teams to optimise DevOps processes, ensuring seamless application deployments and management. This role will be based in Wellington.

As a Kubernetes Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining a reliable, efficient container infrastructure that can adapt to fluctuations in demand. You will also:

• Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters to support diverse applications and services

• Automate infrastructure processes using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) practices to enhance efficiency

• Work closely with development teams to optimize DevOps processes, integrating Kubernetes with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Harness, GitLab CI), automating application deployments, and providing guidance on containerization best practices

• Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of Kubernetes environments through continuous monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting

• Implement and maintain best practices for container orchestration, deployment, and management

What you will need:

• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, deployment, and management Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification is highly desired).

• Extensive experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Familiarity with AKS and EKS is beneficial.

• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy scalable, cloud-native applications.

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and CI/CD pipelines (Harness, Ansible, Bitbucket Pipelines).

• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy scalable, cloud-native applications.

• Solid understanding of cloud-native technologies and microservices architectures.

• Experience working with distributed systems, Linux software packaging, and networking/security principles.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
