About the team

The Data Science Enablement (DSE) team is a small and impactful engineering team within the Worldpay Data Strategy & Solutions (DSS) unit. DSE is responsible for creating scalable cloud-based solutions for hosting data science models. Our real-time production systems serve multiple Worldpay products by optimising the payment flows. Robust engineering solutions are essential to successful processing of high volumes of transactions for our merchants.

What you will be doing

Working at the intersection of Data Science, cloud engineering and MLOps, your contribution will be key in productionising real-time prediction models and enabling new data science products.

You will help build out and improve existing microservices solutions and related data flows.

You’ll interact with Data Science, Product and other Engineering teams to shape and deliver custom solutions. You’re comfortable taking technical ownership of engineering tasks and interested in learning about operational aspects of cloud production systems.

  • Help build and productionise high-performant, intelligent low-latency systems supporting global online payments.

  • You’re able to independently translate high-level product requirements into feasible technical solutions. You’re also able to explain and present your solutions to stakeholders.

  • You will connect real-time services and supporting cloud data pipelines to surrounding services and across platforms.

  • Operational support of live data science products.

  • Your contributions to designing, building, debugging and improving model deployments within a microservices framework will be an important part of this role.

  • You’ll take ownership and responsibility of end-to-end solutions and you’ll always look for ways to automate and improve these.

What you bring:

  • A motivated, inquisitive, self-starter who can independently build, test and improve complex technological systems.

  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge and proven experience with AWS or other cloud systems.

  • Aware of DevOps and MLOps best practices, and hands-on experience with automation, Github, Docker, CI/CD.

  • Not afraid to handle large volumes of data, take on data engineering challenges, and understand data engineering (pipeline) designs and trade-offs.

  • A good level of Python and its most relevant libraries is essential for this role.

  • Knowledge of common online components in data ecosystems such as databases, webservers, APIs, etc.

  • Experience with data science and machine learning applications and how to productionise these.

Added bonus if you have:

  • Experience in FinTech and/or affinity with Payments products.

  • Cloud networking skills; being able to establish secure connections between services and diagnose connectivity issues.

  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, key-value databases such as DynamoDB.

  • A fair understanding of common cloud security questions and solutions, IAM, role-based access, key management, VPC etc.

  • Exposure to delivering projects using Agile methodology.
