About the team
 

FIS Modern Banking Platform (MBP) is cloud-enabled, componentized, container-based processing solution designed with API-first functionality. Plug-and-play components provides a multitude of configurable features for banks to have flexibility and speed to innovate into the future. The cloud first Java-based solution is purpose-built for next generation modern banking, designed to meet the unique business and product needs of individual retail and commercial financial organizations across all lines of business.

The Enterprise Architecture team of MBP drives the technology, architecture, tools and processes across the development, implementation, operational and support practices. MBP is built for cloud platforms including private FIS cloud and public clouds like Azure, AWS, etc. 

What you will be doing
 

Working with MBP ARM (Application Release Management) team colleagues, you’ll help design and deliver a repeatable release management devops processes that ensures timely and quality delivery of FIS Modern Banking Platform components on all the supported cloud platform. 

This role will have a large influence on the DevOps, SRE and Public Cloud approach for the company. The role combines superior technical knowledge, automation, application and monitoring expertise, and development process knowledge to bring about innovative process changes and shifts in work culture.

Your main responsibilities will include but not limited to the following.

  • Implement best practice monitoring, processes and tooling focused on deployment of MBP solutions using harness and other tools.
  • Collaborate with other development team members to plan and coordinate testing and make it as part of the release cycle.
  • Ensure standard configurations, governance are applied during the release process.
  • Work with SRE colleagues to ensure uptime, performance, reduction of toil and cost optimisation.
  • Provide support for client implementation teams on deploying MBP solution.
  • Focus on reducing the release time by implementing best devops practises.
  • Capacity planning and cost management of the cloud infrastructure, scaling for future and its maintenance.
  • Support investigations, triage, response, and recovery activities
  • Establishing and refining monitoring & alerting and integration with relevant existing FIS services and processes
  • Proactively identifying, mitigating, and resolving technical risks and issues
  • Interfacing with stakeholders at several levels, from executive management to technical staff
  • Creation of dashboards, internal and external status pages and associated communications and update mechanisms
  • Working with the rest of Architecture team on driving the continual improvement of CI/CD pipelines, release processes, Automation of manual processes, tooling and Infrastructure as Code including security checks and break-glass procedures.
  • Disaster Recovery planning and execution support to L2 SRE’s.
  • Play a key role in change management and the release/delivery pipeline into all environments including production whilst ensuring safety, predictability, repeatability, and auditability.
  • Training support staff and providing on call support on need basis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
 

Experience Requirements

Requires the following experience or equivalent combination of education and experience as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated experience as DevOps/Cloud Engineer and Application Support for more than 12 months.
  • Three or more years working in a distributed and heterogeneous computing environment (ZOS, UNIX, Windows)
  • Three or more years demonstrated experience in working with relational (and/or hierarchical) databases (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience of modern software application technologies
  • Experience in building or supporting robust and scalable infrastructure architectures (telephony systems, network services, web farms, multiple-node systems, etc).
  • Experience of Release management practices using (rather than developing with) DevOps tooling including:  Bitbucket, Jira, Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, TeamCity, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, HashiStack (Terraform, Vault, Consul), CloudFormation, ELK, Prometheus, Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace would be an advantage.
  • Experience working under a DevOps culture, implementing, and supporting applications using continuous integration and deployment techniques in an enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP. Certification to associate or professional level would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry is preferrable.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take.
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • Comfortable working with a globally diverse set of users, contractors, and partners.
