About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Digital Mobile Platform, the Director of Mobile Engineering will play a critical role in driving innovation and growth for the Banking Solutions business. In a leadership role in the Digital Technology organization, you will be responsible for transforming our talent and driving the development and implementation of next generation digital products. With a focus on digital software engineering, you will collaborate closely with product leaders, and other stakeholders to align on product milestones and deliver innovative digital applications and experiences. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the company's digital transformation journey, drive customer-centric innovation, and position the organization as a leader in the competitive digital banking landscape.

What you will be doing:

· Provide strategic direction and leadership for the mobile engineering team, aligning technology initiatives with the company's overall goals and vision.

· Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of a high-performing mobile engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

· Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for mobile app development, ensuring scalability, performance, and security across iOS and Android platforms.

· Collaborate closely with product management, design, QA, DevOps, and other teams to ensure seamless integration of mobile solutions with overall product strategy and development processes.

· Drive the delivery of high-quality, on-time, and on-budget mobile solutions, utilizing agile methodologies, best practices, and efficient development workflows.

· Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mobile development, and champion their adoption to enhance product quality, user experience, and development efficiency.

· Establish and maintain robust quality assurance processes, including automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, to ensure software reliability and stability.

· Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize mobile app performance, responsiveness, and resource utilization, addressing bottlenecks and improving overall user experience.

· Work with security and compliance teams to ensure mobile app security, data protection, and regulatory compliance, implementing best practices and industry standards.

· Manage relationships with external vendors, partners, and third-party service providers as needed for mobile development tools, services, or integrations.

· Provide regular updates, reports, and presentations to senior management and stakeholders on mobile engineering initiatives, progress, challenges, and recommendations.

· Maintain a customer-centric approach, leveraging user feedback, analytics, and market insights to drive product improvements, feature enhancements, and innovation in mobile solutions.

What you will need:

· 7+ years of Engineering experience, with multiple years of leadership experience building high-performing, best in class mobile architectures and engineering teams in a high-growth software product environment.

· In-depth mobile engineering experience and experience in the migration of legacy mobile applications to next generation mobile platforms.

· Strong track-record of building out market leading consumer facing mobile products, on-time and with quality.

· Significant experience building high volume mobile applications leveraging mobile native and cross-platform technologies, and modern architectural patterns (modularized microfrontends), ideally in a “you build it, you run it” model.

· Deep technical knowledge of mobile technologies, frameworks, pipelines, and tooling

· Proven track record of hiring, managing, mentoring, and retaining top-performing engineering professionals, and inspiring and leading engineering teams.

· Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering principles and processes (e.g., Lean, Agile, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement.

· Deep understanding of security and compliance for managing data, ideally in a regulated industry.

· Excellent communicator, highly innovative with a low ego, capable of motivating and energizing direct reports and peers, with a proven ability to create a highly collaborative working environment.

· Preferred degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar relevant field preferred

Added bonus if you have:

· Proven experience in leading and managing mobile engineering teams, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development.

· Extensive hands-on experience in mobile app development across iOS and Android platforms, with a deep understanding of mobile technologies, architectures, and frameworks.

· Proficiency in mobile development languages such as Swift, Kotlin, Java, and frameworks/libraries like React Native, Flutter, or native development tools.

· Knowledge of mobile app design principles, user experience (UX) best practices, and accessibility standards to drive user-centric product development.

· Demonstrates judgment and flexibility; thinks about issues and develops solutions that thoughtfully take the broader context into account - positively deals with a shifting demand for time, priorities, and the rapid change of environments.

· Takes an ownership approach to engineering and product outcomes.

· Action-oriented self-starter who can set strategy and drive execution with a “roll up the sleeves” approach.

· Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor teams towards achieving strategic objectives and delivering high-quality mobile solutions.

· Penchant for excellence, both personally and professionally, demonstrated by intellectual curiosity, track record, and reputation; shows strong attention to detail and implementation of best practices with an inclination for continuous improvement.

· Ability to quickly establish strong credibility with employees, business partners and external resources.

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $143,040.00 - $240,310.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
