Cloud Engineer for FIS Quantum

Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure Cloud engineer who has expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications and an ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient.

Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, application deployment experience, developing operational excellence for our clients will be key to help building out a successful team.

What you will be doing:

• Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company.
• Define and document best practices and SOP’s regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
• Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design.
• Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
• At the direction of lead architects, develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy cloud applications, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modelling, and advanced analytics.
• Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle for AWS solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
• Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary.
• Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
• Devise innovative ideas for solving hard technical problems involving distributed systems, scale and security and translate these ideas into designs and implementation.
• Implement best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and efficiency.
• Engage with application developers throughout the full development life-cycle – from inception and design to deployment, operation, and iterative development.
• Drive conversations around system resiliency and observability
• Identify, triage, and automate systems. Evolve systems by pushing for change that improve reliability and developer velocity.
• Help develop robust organizational practices around monitoring, alerting, testing, deployment, and incident response.
• Help identify key uptime and performance metrics for production systems.
• Participate in root cause analysis of production incidents.
• Ensure security and auditing of the client environments.

What you bring:

• Three or more years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms.
• Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, EKS/AKS, Kubernetes, docker, akamai, ServiceNow ticket management, Terraform, CI/CD
• Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject-matter experts.
• Hands on experience developing and engineering software and consumer facing applications.
• Familiarity with Domain Driven Design and Event Driven Architecture
• Experience working with SQL Server databases.
• Experience working in a distributed, cloud-based environment using Azure/AWS (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS.
• Experience with modern SDLC tools, branching strategies, and ability to develop and enforce CI/CD practices.
• Experience working with Linux/UNIX, Docker, Windows
• Systematic problem-solving approach with excellent communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
• Availability for PST work times is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Kubernetes, Microservices, and Postgres DB experience is paramount
• Demonstrated working knowledge of AWS Public Cloud
• Private Cloud support would be useful as well

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $98,090.00 - $164,800.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
