This position is generally autonomous in their oversight and active management for Technology project(s) and most often reports directly to a Director or Senior Director. They are also accountable for maintaining high levels of learning technology efficiency and user satisfaction through continuous innovation and process improvement. Additionally, the Associate Director .
The role includes responsibility for setting individual and team expectations, managing relationships with vendors, managing definition / management of roadmap and backlog, delegating assignments, identifying talent needs, and coaching team members. The individual in this role is responsible for the strategic and tactical work associated with designing and delivering the scope aligned on with peers and stakeholders.
Execution and Delivery:
· Identify opportunities for innovative tools and strategies in existing learning tools and technologies, make recommendations and contribute to development of an implementation plan.
· Develop a strategy for testing and evaluating new approaches to learning product delivery.
· Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging trends and cutting-edge technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence (AI), adaptive learning, mobile learning, microlearning, etc.) and leverage this knowledge to evaluate their potential impact on current and future learning solutions.
· Develop and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness and business impact of learning technology solutions developed.
· Provide guidance on and critical evaluation of potential future directions of the learning management system (LMS) and overall education platforms and interfaces.
· Tracks the development work and drives resolution of escalated issues and bugs for their products
· Identifies issues that will keep their products from delivering on time or at the right level of quality, assesses alternatives to resolve, builds a plan for resolution, and directly resolves or communicates to leadership
Leadership:
· Follow, understand, and apply relevant industry trends, research, and best practices in technology and learning
· Builds and maintains relationships with key industry thought leaders to improve vision and improve team success
· Focus on team leadership, delivery of business value, risk mitigation, cost optimization and return on investment.
· Support the evaluation of new technologies, techniques, and tools.
· Work directly with outside vendors to negotiate services and product agreements
· Willingness to lead, take responsibility and offer options.
· Serves as a subject-matter expert for addressing highly complex or ambiguous problems that often involve multiple stakeholder teams and spans across product groups or domains
Collaboration:
· Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key internal and external partners.
· Collaborates with leadership to influence strategy that spans multiple user groups; working with relevant stakeholders to identify barriers or potential long-term consequences of plans
· Collaborates with Product peer to determine and monitor release goals, prioritization, implementation, and iteration plans according to user value and/or business need
· Participate in periodic Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) testing and reporting.
People Management:
· Identify and hire resource/skills needed within their organization.
· Provides coaching, guidance and growth opportunities to team members.
· Responsible for staff performance management and training.
· Coordinate assignment of subordinate staff.
Budget management:
· Develop and oversee assigned budgets, evaluate, and report on variances, and ensure timely submission of required reports for internal and external compliance.

Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least five (5) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience; Master’s degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of managing technical programs and/or processes including staff management of at least four (4) resources and budget of at least $1 million annually.
- Knowledge of business, technology and management principles involved in strategic planning, organizational change management, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
- Experience must include direct project experience in one of the following areas: strategy, software development, operations, engineering, development services, information security, and/or compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of industry leading technology best practices including familiarity with technology methodologies including at least one of ISO-9000, ITIL, Agile and iterative.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and leverage those relationships to improve the quality of work products.
- Must be able to identify, evaluate and recommend processes, tools, technologies and/or products to meet business and budgetary requirements.
- Should be well organized, thorough, and able to handle competing priorities.
- Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
