As part of our Professional products portfolio we are looking for Principal Software Engineer to overlook the Content Analytics team and our Differentiate experience for Professional users.

Our technology

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with other Principal Engineers to co-own the technical strategy within FT Professional

• Recruit, lead and manage the engineering team

• Develop and maintain an understanding of the business domains within FT Specialist

• Work within the department's strategy, contribute to their development and ensure adoption within delivery teams

• Adopt a practical approach to working with a large portfolio of products that leverage a diverse range of technologies

Essential skills and experience

• Extensive experience using the wide range of technologies and patterns required to build modern web products and services: from CDNs, networking, cloud infrastructure and databases through to performance tuning and optimisation

• Demonstrable experience using ML successfully in digital products

• Take a leading role in defining and supporting the team’s culture

• Able to balance the customer and business product needs with those needed to build high quality products

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of what motivates engineers and how to develop them

• Understand the importance of diversity and equality in a well functioning team

Desirable skills and experience 

• An understanding of modern front-end development

• Have built software using the 12 factor methodology

• You have an understanding of design and UX principles

• Rich understanding of web technologies, their strengths and weaknesses, and their impact on users as performance and accessibility

• Instrumenting for observability and operability

• Experience with the tooling, monitoring, and engineering that enables highly fault tolerant systems in cloud environments
