Grid Lead (Development)

Key Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
Management of grid connections for origination and development projects and novel technologies, including:
- Understanding the grid-related opportunities and risks of each development project;
- Providing electrical design expertise during early project development;
- Preparation of single line diagrams (SLDs) and general arrangement drawings;
- Management of grid connection applications, from application through to acceptance and modifications; and
- Stakeholder engagement with NESO and the relevant Transmission Owners (TOs).
Industry intelligence and pipeline strategy, including:
- Sharing key industry developments in grid connections — including Connections Reform and CUSC modifications — with the wider business, and making recommendations to directly shape the GB pipeline;
- Maintaining expert knowledge of the existing and future GB electricity network; and
- Keeping abreast of developments in the grid landscape to spot opportunities for what to develop next, and where, and advising the wider business accordingly.
Power systems engineering expertise and grid compliance for pre-construction projects, including:
- Oversee the procurement of early stage grid compliance studies to feed directly into site designs;
- Ownership of the early G99 and ONCC connection application processes, including P28 and G5/5 reports to inform the final project design for procurement;
- Acting as the go-to contact for Project Managers, providing recommendations based on the impact of grid issues on budgets and programme; and
- On-going liaison with TOs and NESO to resolve issues as they arise.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with 6+ years’ experience within a grid connections, power systems or electrical engineering role in BESS, power generation or a related infrastructure sector;
- A sense of entrepreneurialism, strong commercial awareness and a solid understanding of transmission grid connections and wider project development lifecycles;
- Strong working knowledge of the G99 and ONCC connection application processes, confidence reviewing P28 and G5/5 reports, and familiarity with Grid Code
- Proven ability to build and cultivate productive working relationships with NESO and TO representatives
- Up to date knowledge of grid-related industry developments, including Connections Reform and CUSC modifications
- Excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders, including Field’s Senior Leadership Team
- Ability to work autonomously
