Position Description:

Automates processes and builds solutions to scale open-source policies and controls and to improve the developer experience using Python and Java. Implements controls, policies, and technical solutions to safely consume and contribute to open-source Cloud software using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Docker, and Kubernetes. Prepares reports and correspondence concerning project specifications, activities, and status. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and test applications across multiple platforms.
  • Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
  • Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
  • Responsible for post-installation/deployment testing of any problems.
  • Develops, debugs, tests, deploys, codes reviews, and designs software applications according to provided design specifications.
  • Builds enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggests improvements to architecture.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, testing, and deploying highly performant and secure applications in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud platform using Java, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, testing, and deploying highly performant and secure applications in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud platform using Java, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing Cloud Application design and development using Java, Python, Jira tools; designing, developing, and deploying applications within AWS Cloud platforms; crafting secure and high-performance solutions using Java and Python; Inter-Process communication using REST API principles to integrate with Postgres and Neo4j databases; and coordinating code versioning through GitHub and encapsulated applications, using Docker for streamlined deployment.
  • DE enhancing existing software architectures using Java, Python, Docker & Kubernetes tools; improving the performance, scalability, and maintainability of applications using Java, Python, Docker & Kubernetes tools; and identifying opportunities to refine architecture components, optimize processes, and enhance user experiences using Java, Python, Docker, and Jira tools.
  • DE designing application monitoring and tracing frameworks using Datadog; integrating applications with logging and monitoring systems for real-time insights into performance using Datadog tool; and tracking request flow, identifying bottlenecks, and enhancing application responsiveness using tracing mechanisms using Datadog tool.
  • DE orchestrating comprehensive and end-to-end DevOps pipelines; conducting code quality checks, security scans, and automating building, testing, and deploying applications using Jenkins and Groovy scripting; coordinating containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes for consistent and efficient application delivery.
