Position Description:

Implements tools, processes, and Cloud environments required to automate build, testing, deployment, and production infrastructure with NoSQL, PowerShell, Bash, Peri, and Python. Builds and manages infrastructure to use with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Azure, and Openstack. Creates configuration, builds, deploys, and releases management strategies using Atlassian and JIRA. Provisions configuration management and containerization solutions using Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, and Mesos. Develops and maintains frameworks, code quality analysis, processes, tools, and executes using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) in Kubernetes container environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs, promotes, and supports micro-services.

  • Maintains deployment reliability and frequency while reducing friction.

  • Implements deployment processes such as packaging and pushing releases, and executing installs.

  • Supports customer infrastructure for Cloud deployments.

  • Monitors and troubleshoots a highly available platform.

  • Conducts DevOps tool research, evaluation, proof of concept, installation, configuration, and training.

  • Researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software.

  • Sets operational specifications and formulating and  analyzing software requirements.

  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.

  • Mentors junior team members.

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

  • Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Systems Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, building, and deploying infrastructure and applications in Cloud providers -- AWS, and Azure.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Systems Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, building, and deploying infrastructure and applications in Cloud providers -- AWS, and Azure.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing automated provisioning using AWS Cloud formation, AWS OpsWorks, Hashicorp Terraform, Route 53, or AWS auto scaling; automating system administration and application functions using Shell, Python, and Ruby; and managing websites and applications on the cloud.

  • DE building, running, and deploying multi-tier web applications on a cloud computing platform -- AWS, Azure, or IBM BlueMix -- using IaaS or PaaS; and developing automations on IaaS or PaaS using IT automation tools -- Ansible, Chef or Puppet.

  • DE implementing and migrating financial service applications using automated configuration management products -- Urban Deploy, Puppet, Chef, Docker, or Mesos -- across on-premises and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google); and implementing Cloud Infrastructure for financial service applications, using EC2, S3, VPCs, CloudFront, Elastic cache, Lambda, and on-demand instances.

  • DE developing Web and API applications, using Java, Spring Boot, Python, or JavaScript; and deploying applications on private or public Cloud (Openstack, Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS), using container and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and Docker, Jenkins, HashiCorp Vault, or K8 based container orchestration platforms.
