Position Description:

Builds, tests, and delivers the software applications and features using -- Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node, Node Package Manager (NPM), HTML/ Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), and Reactive Extensions for JavaScript (RxJS). Designs, develops, implements, and supports digital products and services in an Agile environment. Develops, deploys, and supports key applications and features using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and Object-Oriented Design (OOD). Distills sophisticated business problems into creative, efficient, and scalable solutions. Produces scalable and maintainable software solutions. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Web technologies and APIs using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Java within a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Web technologies and APIs using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Java within a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing enterprise-grade microservices-based applications using Java EE, Spring framework, Camel, messaging middleware, and relational database systems; and designing and developing complex Single Page Applications (SPAs) and reusable modules using front-end (Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, and React), and Web service REST API and XML) technologies.
  • DE performing JavaScript programming for UI feature implementation according to JavaScript frameworks -- jQuery, Angular, and React JS; and developing secure customer-facing websites using front-end web development technologies (HTML5, XHTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript) and Web services technologies (XML and REST API).
  • DE producing highly scalable and secure customer-facing websites using Content Management Systems – SDL, Tridion, and Documentum; and performing Sematic HTML/HTML5 UI development by defining formatting rules using CSS; and coordinating services, processes, and system resources for operating systems -- Windows (Server 2003, 2008, and 2012).
  • DE building and managing applications using Eclipse, SCM, and deployment tools – Clearcase, Git/Stash, Jenkins, and uDeploy; automating application execution, batch processing, data extraction, and loading using CONTROL-M and cron jobs; performing application development using Java, .Net, and C++; and writing Shell and Perl scripts for data extraction and loading.
