Job Title - Database Administrator

The Purpose of This Role

Application Database Administrator role is a Production Database Support team under WI Data Engineering Team. This team supports various databases to manage WI critical applications for the business. WI Database Administration Support group provides database services related to the Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL hosted in On-Premises, Azure / AWS and Distributed databases infrastructure for multiple clients facing internal and external applications.

Production Support which includes 7x12 on call support, Database Infrastructure Support, performance monitoring, 2nd level performance troubleshooting, Risk/Audit compliance and Non-Production database refreshes. Database and Oracle Application Maintenance includes Oracle Database upgrades, Database reorganizations, Security Patching, Application Upgrades.

Database Administrator is core member of Application Database Support team working on Linux Servers and Oracle databases mainly to ensure stability and availability for Business critical applications. DBA should be able to collaborate with multiple teams to,

·       Ensuring Production Stability

·       Providing database application life cycle support.

·       Database design, development and implementation.

·       Supporting Non-Production and Production environments.

·       Maintaining database security controls and availability.

o   Proficiency in installing, upgrading, and configuring SQL Server instances, including setting up various features and services

o   Ability to create and modify databases, tables, indexes, and other database objects.

o   Expertise in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing queries, managing indexes, and understanding execution plans.

o   Implementing and managing database security, including user authentication, authorization, roles, permissions, and data encryption.

o   Developing and implementing robust backup strategies, performing data recovery operations, and understanding disaster recovery concepts.

o   Implementing and managing solutions like AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, and Clustering to ensure continuous data availability.

o   Utilizing SQL Server tools and techniques to monitor database performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot problems effectively.

o   Strong proficiency in querying, manipulating, and managing data and database objects.

o   Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance if managing cloud-based SQL Server environments.

·       Postgres DBA knowledge

·       Database management skills of data administration, web connectivity/managing connections, physical structure, and overall architecture and database analysis v12 above.

·       Responsible for backup, recovery and upgrading of postgres databases. ETL and data-warehouse design experience.

·       Proficient with major PostgreSQL procedural languages viz, PL/PgSQL as well some Oracle SQL-PL/SQL.

·       Configuring Postgres Streaming Replication, Logical replication, BARMAN, EFM and Load balancing.

·       Managing monitoring tools for better performance like PGbadger

·       Being proactive in maintenance activities and security management.

·       Should have knowledge in ITIL process.

·       Having knowledge in EXADATA would be an advantage.

·       Should be able to be part of solutions and problem management.

·       Provide 12x7 support and ensure that all critical database problems are resolved in a timely manner

·       Should have knowledge in GoldenGate replication

·       Configuring and administration

·       Managing all kinds of replication

·       Heterogeneous replication

·       Should have strong knowledge on Unix scripting.

·       Possess knowledge in UDeploy

·       Having knowledge in DevOps model

·       Having knowledge in No-SQL databases
